Rounding a corner, Lynn is nearly done with her walk.

She thinks her mother will be satisfied if she were to take a longer walk than five minutes and so she has.

She took six.

The corner reveals to her an astonishing sight.

The boy, at the other end of the sidewalk, jogs in her direction.

Lynn almost halts in surprise.

He hasn't  noticed her. Maybe if she walks quickly and quietly she could get past him.

She wants so desperately to know him.

The boy approaches. Lynn's heart hammers. Her hands slick.

He ran past. His shoulder brushes against her's.

She jumps at the contact.

The boy stalls.

Lynn tries to scurry away.

The boy takes an ear bud from his ear.

Lynn is shaking.

He calls out one word.

"Wait!"
