Chapter 5;

Eric p.o.v

"Dude, what have you got on your tee?" J asked as he walked in. I'd been getting a beer from the fridge when he'd noticed it.

"Uhh, pasta sauce." Damn, I hadn't changed it yet but to be fair, Kate had only left a little while ago and I'd forgotten. "Spilt it down me when I was eating lunch." Even I didn't believe that, and J could see through even my best of lies.

"Who did you have over?" He quizzed. I replied with 'just a friend' but he saw straight through me. "It was Kate, wasn't it? That's why you're being secretive! You charmer!" He mocked, punching my arm lightly.

"You can't say anything - to anyone. I don't even know if she likes me like I like her." I tried to throw him off the scent, but I knew it wasn't working.

"If she came over and gave you her number, chances are she likes you." How did he know? "Oh come on, you've had that stupid grin on your face ever since I walked in!" He laughed.

He made me give him every little detail, and mocked me relentlessly. I just rolled my eyes and switched fifa on. He grabbed the other controler and tried to beat me - he never did!

Kate p.o.v

"You went over to his flat?!" Ali all but screamed as we were sat in a coffee shop a few days later. We'd met after work as we'd both finished early.

"Yeah. Don't give me that look! Nothing happened - we made dinner, watched a bad film and I left. Really."

"Hmm. But I wouldn't blame you - he's lovely!" she giggled. Ali knew Eric as well, obviously - we'd all gone to the same school. She preferred J and he was handsome, but I didn't know him as well as Eric.

"So, will you see him again?"

"I genuinely have no idea. I want to, but I'll feel guilty if I have to lie to my parents again." I told her sadly.

"Well then don't tell them." She grinned. "You won't be lying to them, and I'm certainly not going to tell them if you want to sneak around with a hottie!"

"Actually, I wouldn't mind." I admitted quietly through a blush. Ali squealed, lightly slapping my arm and the table in her excitement. "It doesn't mean he likes me though." I reminded her.

She said something else but was interrupted by my phone going off. It was on the table, so it was loud enough for both of us to hear.

I grabbed it at the same time that she went to, her hands coming up empty. I unlocked it, smirking at her. I looked at the screen, instantly smiling.

"Hi, Kate :) I just wondered if you're free tonight? If you want to that is x"

"Is it Eric?" Ali squealed loudly again. I shused her, stupidly worried someone would overhear. I could only smile in response, feeling like a fool.

I text Eric back while Ali was busy awwing and squealing. "Hey, Eric :) yeah, I'm free - what did you have in mind? X"

"How long have you known him for?" Ali asked.

"Umm since we started school, I suppose. Why?" I asked cautiously, drawing the word out.

"Yet you still haven't admitted that you like him? It's blatantly obvious!"

"I-I ... I've only really been speaking to him in the last few months, since just before me and Josh broke up!" I tried to defend myself. My phone beeped again, making Ali smirk.

"Dinner and a movie? My treat :) x"

"Sounds good :) but could we do it at your place, if that's ok? I just don't want to risk my parents finding out - not yet, anyway x"

"So I'd be your dirty little secret? ;) Sure :) x"

"Mm, yeah but I suppose I'll be yours as well ;) x"

"Ali?" She looked up from her food with a questioning look. "I like Eric." I couldn't stop the grin I felt creeping onto my face.

"I bloody knew it!" She actually lept up from her seat and wrapped her arms around me. "I want to hear everything later!"
