Chapter 26

Nice to know he's not completely perfect.

It's finally time for the talent show to begin, and I hear Cruella and the founder of Dutiful Debutantes announcing the first act when I walk backstage with the gang behind me and Collin's band firmly in mine. The first few acts are ballet and hip-hop dancing, then a few really off-key songs are performed before it's finally time for us to go onstage.

"Come on Bambi," Collin says walking me to the stage. "Let's wow them."

The lights blind us for a minute when we walk on stage, then when our eyes adjust we're able to see out into the large crowd of people gathered around the stage. I'm a little nervous at first, but slowly, almost as if they were slowly retreating from my body, the nerves leave and I feel confident again. I'm starting to develop a real love for the adrenaline rush that performing brings.

"How you guys doing?" Collin asks the crowd. They scream so hard (especially the teenage girls) that I'm sure all of California hears them. Collin chuckles.

"Well I'm glad! Now, my better half and I will be singing a song we wrote together that I think you'll really enjoy. You'll also get a little background dancing action from the amazing Noah and Amy whom many of you probably remember from the showcase two weeks ago. So, sit back and enjoy guys!"

The crowd breaks out into raucous applause as Collin and I get in front of Noah and Amy to prepare for the intro of the song.
