Memories are created by doing stupid things, and these things are done in vacations!

                                           ----------------------------------------------------------------------

I am a hopeless romantic so idea of vacation brings the idea of vacation romance. I have fantasized about it every vacation after I was introduced to the world of romance movies and books but nothing ever happened.

And since I was also sort of optimist, I still thought about the stolen kisses, snow covered hills, romantic sunsets and beautiful flowers. But the worst part of vacation was separating from my friends, Lyla and Blair, my sisters from another mother.

We have been together since kindergarten and we loved each other. They were the voice to my shy thoughts. They were the glam to my nerd side, they were like my very own secret diary.

So naturally it was like a tradition before vacation to have a sleepover. We discuss about all the hot celebs, what to wear, what to take and how we will text each other daily.

Following the tradition, both Lyla and Blair were sitting with me in my room two days before the vacation.

"I heard it is rainy season in England." I told Lyla who was going to London.

My mouth was occupied with crispies , a snack that was always present whenever we were together.

"I don't care, best kisses happen in rain." Lyla said with a dreamy look in her eyes.

"Lyla!"Both me and Blair gave her the patronizing look.

"Should I keep this?" Blair said putting a sea green tank top over her and glancing at the mirror.

"Definitely, it brings out the colour of your eyes." I told her adjusting spectacles over my nose.

Blair had the most beautiful sea green eyes which I openly envied. I had the most boring pair of brown eyes and dark brown hair.My hair was not even the lush, straight commercial perfect like Lyla had her silvery white blonde.

Mine were half straight, half wave and difficult to settle down. My friends did say I had best cheeks in the world, like It even made sense.

My packing was done because from three of us I would be living first. Other two had boyfriends and wanted to spend a day or two with them before they ventured off for vacation.

I, I on the other hand was recently single, recently heart-broken. Well not shattered, life ending heartbroken but me being hopeless romantic and all fell for the school's playboy thinking that like romance novels I will be the one to change him.

Unfortunately, I was just another one of his conquests. I cried for weeks, I cursed him and we three even performed some cheap ass vodo ritual stolen from internet to curse him but eventually I turn back to normal, nerdy me.

But all this taught me something, something that is a hard blow for sappy romance lovers like me, perfect guys do not exist in real life.

"Beth, I have an idea." Lyla said suddenly flipping through a magazine.

We all sat in a circle, packets of chips, crispies and cookies lying in centre.

"Let's make a list!" She said with excitement in her eyes.

List, that was the favourite word of Lyla Wakefield.

She had list for homework, list for groceries, list of outfits for date...and on and on and on.

Both me and Blair groaned.

"No, no, listen to me first. We make a list so that we never fall in love with a wrong guy like Beth did." She said giving me a meant-no-offence look.

I shrugged back casually even though it did hurt.

"And what will this list have?" Blair asked getting interested.

"Ten things that Beth hate about a guy. So that if she finds even a single thing from the list in the guy she likes, she can just strike him off.

That way she would not have to deal with anything she doesn't like." Lyla explained the concept which was interesting at the very least.

It made sense. For a person like me it was easy enough to be infatuated but I can just co-check with this list if he was okay enough to fall in love with.

"Let's give this a try." I said rubbing my hands together feeling all eager now.

Both my girlfriends high-fived and we set down on writing a list.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Text and call everyday." Blair said giving me a squeezing hug.

I nodded against her shoulder.

"Hope you find your Mr. Perfect." Lyla said handing me my copy of list while they had theirs.

I hugged her as well.

"No boy is perfect Lyla, I know that now." I said with a sad smile.

"Come on, are we including Robert Downey Jr. in this category?" They both gave me a mock glare.

"I never said no man is perfect, and he is a perfect man, happy?" I said now indulging in a group hug.

"Bethany time to go dear." Mom called out and I waved a final good-bye to my friends.

Where was I going? To my favourite place on earth, Coast End, the place where my brother stayed. Hence Forth began my vacations.
