Author's Note: You won't get this story unless you read my first book, The Mortician's Daughter. I dedicate this book to all my fans. I love you guys so much. Let's get started.

JAKE

At 5 am, I could hear my sergeant coming to wake us up, and I scrambled out of bed. I made my bed quickly and pulled on my clothes and laced up my combat boots. It was the last few days of Winter Encampment 2009 and I was already very eager to get back to the small band that I'd joined after I signed up for Encampment.

After all the guys in my room were awake, we ran to the hangar for drill. That was the millionth time I'd stood next to Bravo element leader, Lina Bradley that week. Today, I saw her as nothing more than the quiet girl she'd been all her life. She in California, which was sorta far from where we stood, all the way in Milwaukee.

She stared ahead at the flag in front of her and waited silently. That was the last time I saw Lina Bradley.
