Dan was very sleep deprived. His eyes had dark shadows beneath them as a result of the lack of sleep from last night. All because of his new neighbor who was playing the violin until about 3 in the night. How could he think it was okay to play the violin in the dead of the night? Did he not care? Is he not human? Doesn't he need sleep as well?

A million thoughts ran through Dan's mind as he drowned the second cup of coffee since he woke up. He then sat down to eat some fried eggs and toast when the doorbell rang.

Dan wearily opened it to find a smiling Phil on the door with a big smile on his face.

Dan's first instinct was to complain about how he had to clean up the cat's poop on his doorstep when he came home last night but he didn't say anything when Phil handed him a container full of cookies.

"Cookies for you" he said with a smile.

"Um why" Dan spluttered a little surprised.

"Well I am new and I think I should introduce myself to everyone so I am just kind of giving cookies and telling them who I am" Phil explained.

"Oh"

"They are chocolate chips one if that's okay with you"

"It's perfect" Dan smiled his heart warming up a little towards his new neighbor when he felt something rubbing up on his ankles. He looked down to see Phil's cat rubbing on his clothed feet and purring.

"Snowball" Phil groaned bending down and picking her up. "Why do you always get out of the house?"

And coming to my house Dan wanted to add but he didn't.

Snowball thrashed wildly in Phil's arms as he tried to control him.

"She hates me" Phil chuckled as he secured him in his arms and scratched the behind of his ears. "But she likes you a lot I think"

Dan laughed as he saw the grumpy looking Snowball staring at him. He had to agree that the cat was adorable ball of fluffiness.

Dan pet her lightly with his hand and she purred happily and proceeded to lick his hand.

Phil's eyes widened with surprise.

"She always hisses at me but just look at her now just licking your hand" he said.

"She really does like me" Dan said enjoying the cat's affection towards him.

"Maybe you should keep her instead" Phil joked.

"Maybe" Dan grinned as he scratched Snowball's ears.

Phil laughed.

"I should get going now" Phil said a few seconds later.

"Okay bye. Thanks for the cookies" Dan said with a smile.

"No problem. I hope you like them" Phil smiled as he let Snowball down on the ground and walked to the flat next door. Snowball took a last glance back at Dan and then followed Phil.

Dan closed the door and went back to the kitchen opening up the container and eating one of the cookies.

He closed his eyes savoring the amazing taste. It was better than what his grandma made, something he didn't think was possible.

Dan had finished half of the cookies already and the high dose of sugar was totally worth it he thought to himself. He secretly wished he could eat more of Phil's baking because it was seriously that good.

Dan had definitely softened towards Phil. Excluding the uncontrollable cat, poop left on the doorstep and playing violin in the night, Phil wasn't really that bad of a neighbor at all. After all everyone has their flaws right?
