Upon entering she saw a tray of food was placed on top of the mess hall table. Aile was dumbfounded for a moment. She put her dish beside the tray and examined it. She noticed a small note was put below it.

"We'll be off. Hope you'll enjoy this. We'll see you after the expedition. -Petra." a smirk rose to her lips as she read it out loud. "God, that kid..."

She hummed happily, plopping herself on the chair and began munching her omelette. "Hmm! Yup, it's perfect!" she stated childishly. After she finished it she ate the food on the tray, and though it was bread, she really enjoyed every bite she took and savored its plain taste.

"I should cook them omelette when they return... tee-hee..." she intoned as she imagined the contented faces of Levi's squad members. Her eyelids slowly became heavy as she continued to fantasize. "Not just them, but everyone in the corps... hopefully Commander won't mind... nah he won't..."

"Maybe I should ask Moblit to buy some eggs... yeah..." Her eyes became heavier, and eventually she fell asleep. "I can't wait..." she happily murmured in her sleep.

Aile woke up hours later. Rubbing her eyes, her head reflexively turned to find nearby window and discovered it's already afternoon.

Her small body rose from her seat and without muttering any word she brought her plate and tray to the kitchen. She washed her face and untied her hair.

She walked to her room and changed her white pajama to her uniform. She winced when she put on her buttoned shirt as her burnt wound wasn't fully healed yet. She ignored the pain and continued to put on the pants, strap, vest, and wore her boots. When she had done she tied her hair to a proper side ponytail and wore her Survey Corps cloak.

She walked out of the Survey Corps' old HQ and went to the stable. "Hey, long time no see, Spotless." she smiled softly as she petted a horse. Fitting its name, its fur and mane were plain brown without any spots.

It neighed, as if greeting back. "I need your help... please take me to the main HQ." she nodded with serious face.

The horse neighed again, causing Aile to smile. "Oh, are you worrying me? I'm okay." she assured. She hopped onto said horse's back and hastily spurred it to the forest, heading towards the main HQ.

The Survey Corps just returned from their expedition that afternoon.

Like his other comrades, Moblit walked down the road with dark and blank face. Faintly he could hear people's whispers surrounding his troops, "Look at them... they returned this early with such pathetic condition." "Ahh, we seem to have wasted our tax for their uselessness again..."

Seriously, he couldn't careless about their negative comments. He's used to them after all. But still, some of them managed to pass through his eardrums and it irritated him. He closed his eyes, cleared his mind and let out a disguised sigh as he opened them again.

His eyes caught sight of Levi walking with his horse. Next to him a middle-aged man was talking while trying to keep up with his pace. That man oddly looked happy as he kept on talking. He didn't stop following Levi nor babbling until they all arrived in front of the inner gate. "...that is Petra's father, in case you're wondering." Hanji said beside him.

"Is that so..."

Entering their HQ courtyard, Moblit went to the stable to tether his and Hanji's horses. He hung his head as he shuffled across the cobblestone road towards the stable. "...you look horrible."

He immediately recognized that sudden voice. Lifting his gaze off of the road the owner of that feminine voice stared at him expressionlessly, her side ponytail fluttering by the wind.

"Aile? What are you doing here..."

But that girl's gaze wasn't set on him. He realized another person was standing between him and her, and he was the person Aile talked to.

That person was Levi, standing with his horse. In contrast of his stiff posture, his cloak billowed behind him, gracefully showing off the brilliant Wings of Freedom.

Aile's lips slowly arched into a bitter smile. "Still, you manage to come back in one piece."

"Yeah." was Levi's answer.

The wind suddenly blew harder and its direction changed. The horses that Moblit held as well as Levi's neighed as they looked up the sky. Moblit stared up amazedly while Levi remained unmoved.

Meanwhile the auburn-haired girl also raised her face, staring at the reddish sky with indecipherable expression. She folded her arms behind her back. "Ah... and here I thought I could share my omelette with everyone now..." she whispered with small chuckle.

"...good work. And... see you later..."
