Alec

I sat there in an utterly painful silence as I looked up at the high, vintage detailed ceilings of the Institute. People walked in and out of the infirmary part of the Institute which I was the only person in the room at the moment.

"How you feeling?" I heard an all too familiar voice beside me. I pulled out of my gaze at the ceiling and turned my head to see Isabelle walking towards me. Her hands were cupped around a small mug that had steam coming from the top. I could only guess she had coffee or some kind of tea.

"I feel better now than I have in a few days." My voice come out with a slight rasp seeing as though I haven't talked to a lot of people lately. She helped me sit up and I winced in pain at the process. My left shoulder and right side were hurt the most but they were coming along slowly.

Isabelle told me I need a month of rest before I could get back into the swing of things, but I say I only need another week or two and then I would be just fine. She denies it every time. She gave me a weary smile as she caught a glimpse of my wince but I cleaned it up pretty well as much as it hurt. She sighed and handed me the mug gently, feeling the heat of the substance inside the cup warmed my cold hands. "I brought you mint tea to help with your throat." She said since I've also developed a sickness from the injuries but it was just a small cold in my opinion.

"Thank you." I murmured finally as I smiled weakly at her. She nodded and smiled knowing she was probably happy to see me smile after what happened between Jace and I.

Oh yeah...no one really knows about that except Izzy...well long story short, I confessed my love to Jace and now he probably hates me and we won't talk to me nor even show me if he excepts my love or denies it.

I zoned out as I sipped on the warm liquid until Isabelle brought me back to reality. "Alec! You okay? You've been zoning out a lot lately.." She asked acknowledging my odd behavior lately even though she knew asking "are you okay?" Is the most stupidest question you can ever ask someone. She knew I wasn't okay but I just nodded and went along with saying "I'm fine."

She nodded bitting her lip and stood up. "I should get back to training...Clary wanted to come see you in a bit so she'll be here in a few probably." Isabelle informed as she straightened out her wrinkled leggings after sitting on the flimsy bed. I nodded faintly and thanked her again.

I watched her walk across the large room to two heavy wooded doors and pushed through them into a long hallway. The door closed behind her and I was alone again in silence.

I drank all the chicken broth by the time Clary showed up. She walked through the heavy doors in a scrambling mess as she caught herself on a random chair before she stumbled to the ground. She got herself together and went over to me. We were beginning to grow on each other a bit, weird huh? She isn't that bad, I'm just stubborn when it comes getting to know someone.

"Hey Alec!" She says out of breath as she sat down exhaustedly on a chair next to my bed and threw her bag on the ground. She was breathing heavily and a little sweat and ran down her forehead before she wiped her head with her sleeve. "Sorry...I lost track of time." She says finally after her breathing became normal.

"It's totally fine, I'm kind of stuck here so I've got time..." I said trying to lighten my mood since I was kind of glum and dumb with Isabelle earlier which I kind of felt guilty for but she knew I'm more of an introvert.

Clary let out a small giggle as she ran a hand through her hair. "How you doing?" She asked studying my bandaged wounds while I finally realized and totally forgot I was shirtless. My cheeks reddened a little bit soon faded knowing it's just clary and she didn't really care about my appearance at the moment and neither did I since I was alone in this room 85% of the time.

"I'm doing alright...better than I have been." I said hearing my voice improved from the warm chicken broth I had a few moments before she arrived. She nodded happily and smiled seeing she could see I looked in better spirits then I have been but she knew it would change quickly once I get the slightest glance of Jace or just the mention of his name.

I saw her contemplate with herself, trying to gather be right set of words before I finally got the hint what she was about to say but stopped herself. "No...Jace has not said anything or even bother to check on me." I sighed sadly as I saw her smile fade. "He'll come around Alec, don't worry you know he won't stay like this forever...he just needs time to fathom what you told him and figure out how to approach it...Jace hasn't really felt love before besides the brother and sisterly love you and Isabelle give him." Clary said as she reached for my hand and squeezed it lightly. I nodded and I tried listening to what she said and tried to believe as much as possible from it to give me the slightest bit of hope that I didn't make the most biggest mistake of my life.
