You tell me, "I was raised to think that the color of my skin makes me a
disgrace."

Then I tell you, "I was raised to think that the color of your skin makes you beautiful."

Beautiful isn't the best word to describe the color of your skin. No, beautiful is an adjective long over used. Your skin is more than that. Your skin is prepossessing, alluring, what captivates my mind. The grace-ness of your skin is imprinted onto the tips of my fingers. When I look at your skin I see what others do not.

Granted, I could tell you these things dozens of times a day and you would still insist every word I speak is a lie.

Yet still, I will continue to repeat every phrase and every thought out loud to you, because I know that what I preach is right.

But in return all I hope is that you would not allow such demeaning things to slip from your lips and towards yourself, because you are wrong.

You are more than the color of your skin.

You are more than what you were raised to believe.
