Entering the Hive

The next day the four walked to the gym. It was in the shape of a beehive.

"That's really cool," Toby said.

They walked into the gym and saw two people near a white box. They removed part of the box and Combees flew everywhere. They did not react angrily at all.

"Uh..." Rodrigo said, "Hi!"

"Finish up please," said one of the beekeepers.

The beekeeper walked over to the five boys. The person took their gear off and introduced themselves.

"Hi there! I'm Jaqui!" she said, "What do guys need? Some honey? A lesson on Bug Pokemon?"

"We would like a gym battle," Rodrigo said.

She looked at the five. Then she pointed at Butch and Carlos.

"You two were here a few days earlier, weren't you?" she asked.

"Yeah," Butch said, "we were here with a friend who left us in San Diego. We came with these three to watch Rodrigo's gym battle."

"I can almost taste the victory," Rodrigo said, "or is that the bacon from breakfast?"

"Well the battlefield is this way," Jaqui said, "Follow me."

"I'm coming!" Carlos said.

He immediately follow right behind.

"What's wrong with him?" Toby asked.

"I don't know," Butch said, "He did the same thing when we were here."

"He likes her," Rodrigo said.

"Yeah he does," Julio said.

They followed her to an open field with beehives.

"This is the battlefield?" Toby asked, "What about those beehives?"

"Don't worry," Jaqui said, "the beehives on the field are empty."

"Cool," Julio said.

"Now who is battling me?" she asked.

"That would be me," Rodrigo said.

"Alright," Jaqui said.

She walked over to her side of the field.

"You look cute in that beekeeper suit!" Carlos yelled to her.

"Thanks! I'm gonna take it off cause I get sweaty in it," Jaqui said," Don't worry. I'm wearing clothes under it."

"I can't wait for this battle to start!" Rodrigo said happily.

Julio slapped Rodrigo.

"Ouch!"

"Get your head in the game," Julio said, "you have to battle to win. We'll be in the stands watching."

Butch, Toby and Julio walked towards the stands. Carlos pulled Rodrigo aside.

"Go easy on her," Carlos said, "I uh... I don't want her to get hurt."

"Can't promise you that," Rodrigo told him, "I'm gonna go all out!"

Carlos ran off into the stands. Jaqui looked over at Rodrigo.

"Are you ready?" she asked him.

"Yeah!" Rodrigo said, "Go Pidgeotto!"

"Flying type, huh," Jaqui said, "Come on out Galvantula!"

A two foot tall yellow spider appeared on the field.

"Alright Pidgeotto! Use Quick Attack!"

"Galvantula! Electroweb!"

Pidgeotto flew quickly towards Galvantula but it stopped Pidgeotto dead in its tracks with Electroweb.

"How does that Pokemon know Electric type moves?"

"It's a Bug and Electric type Pokemon."

"Use Gust Pidgeotto!"

"Galvantula! Hold your ground!"

Galvantula prepared itself for the attack but the wind from Pidgeotto's Gust was too strong. It picked up Galvantula and dropped it back down.

"That did some major damage."

"It's about to get worst! Twister!"

Pidgeotto flew to Galvantula and circled it. Pidgeotto's speed increased and it lifted Galvantula once again.

"Electroweb!"

Galvantula sent an electrified web into the tornado. It followed the wind and hit Pidgeotto. Pidgeotto hit the ground by Rodrigo.

"Now use Electro Ball!"

"Pidgeotto! Get up and use Gust!"

Galvantula sent a ball of electricity towards Pidgeotto but Pidgeotto used Gust to sent the attack back towards Galvantula. Both attacks hit Galvantula at the same time, weakening it a lot.

"Quick attack!"

Pidgeotto became a blur and hit Galvantula and knocked it out of the battle.

"Galvantula! Return!"

"That's one Pokemon down!"

"There is three more waiting to battle, so get ready! Go Escavalier!"

An armored Pokemon holding two pikes appeared.

"The battle is just beginning," Jaqui said.
