New Rivals

"Hey, thems fighting words," Toby said.

"Yeah, dude, they are," Julio added.

"Well if its a fight the kid wants, then its a fight the kid gets," he said.

"Go get em, Butch!" said a boy.

"You picked the wrong person to battle with!" said another, "He's a local legend here in Oxnard."

"Really?" Rodrigo replied, "We'll see about that. Go Treeko!"

He threw a PokeBall and out came Treeko.

"Alright then. Let's show them how it's done, Totodile!" Butch yelled as he threw his PokeBall.

They didn't notice the large crowd gathering around them, hoping for an epic battle.

"OK! LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!" yelled Julio.

"Alright Totodile, use Scratch!" Butch yelled out.

Totodile ran straight for Treeko as fast as he could.

"Draw him in Treeko," Rodrigo said.

Totodile was getting closer and Butch started laughing.

"Is that all your going to do? Just stand there?" he said.

Totodile was finally close enough to Treeko and that's when Rodrigo made his move.

"Treeko! Dodge it then hit him with your tail!" he yelled to Treeko.

Treeko moved to the right and spun around to hit Totodile.

"Now use Tackle!" Rodrigo told Treeko.

Treeko landed a good hit on Totodile but Butch knew what to do next.

"Totodile! Use Water Gun!" he yelled out.

Treeko was hit with a blast of water. It wasn't very effective but it did damage.

"Treeko, use Quick Attack!" Rodrigo yelled.

Treeko ran as fast as he could until he was just a blur. He hit Totodile with a great force but Totodile had bitten down on his tail.

"Totodile! Send him flying!" Butch said.

Totodile threw Treeko and he landed on his stomach.

"OK! Let's end this now! Totodile, use Scratch!"

"Treeko roll to the left!" Rodrigo told him.

Totodile's attack had missed.

"Now Treeko! Use Tackle!"

Totodile was hit back to Butch.

"Finish this off with Tail Whip!"

Treeko ran towards Totodile and hit him in the head with his tail.

"Totodile is unable to battle! Treeko is the winner!" Julio yelled out to the now enormous crowd around them. The crowd went wild.

"Butch has been beaten! This is his first lost!" someone from the crowd yelled out.

"Hey kid, you pretty good. But next time I won't lose. I'll be ready to take you down," Butch told Rodrigo.

"That makes us rivals. And the name's Rodrigo, not kid," Rodrigo replied.

"Until next time Rodrigo and friends," Butch said to them, "Come on boys."

"We better get going too," Toby said.

"LET'S GO GET OUR FIRST GYM BADGES!" Julio yelled out.

The three friends were off on their journey to Los Angeles for their first badges.
