It's been almost two weeks, we've run into some trouble over the two weeks, but not enough to bring us down. We found another group and they've helped out a lot, with having a doctor, they've brought medical help to anyone who needed it. Everything is going so well, that it's almost like the dead aren't walking around anymore.... Unfortunately, that's still reality, running and surviving from the walkers is something most people have to do constantly. We stopped searching for Jim, Christina isn't happy with it, but she knows it's not safe to be out there. Especially now....
"Get the hell over here Steven!" I yell over at Steven, he's running towards us. Carrying two or three machetes and a couple of other sharp objects.
"If that asshole doesn't hurry up, this gate is going down!" Tom yells, pushing up against the fence. Tom, Tyler, Markus, and I are all pushing against the fence.
There's a good 15 or 20 zombies pushing against the fence on the other side, more and more walkers show up each day. They keep showing up, like they're being attracted by something. I don't know what it is, but there's no time to think about that, I just continue pushing against the fence as hard as I can. Steven finally gets to us, I quickly grab a machete from his hand, turn around, and stab a walker in the forehead. He falls to the ground, I look to my right and left to make sure the others are doing the same, but then return my attention to the walkers.
We kill all of them, their dead bodies piling up on one another. The electric fence has been off for a while, we haven't made any runs lately because of the danger with the new walkers and the walkers piling up in this area.
"Dammit Steven, could you have been any slower?!" I yell at him.
"I didn't mean to, it's just... Those things are heavy you know..." Steven puts his head down in shame.
I look at him and smirk. "The important thing is that you got here, otherwise we might have been stuck under that pile of walkers."
"You're damn right, but you need to try to hurry up next time." Tom smirks, laughing.
"Yeah, I'll try..." Steven, still having his head down.
"So, did you talk to her yet?" I ask Steven.
"Well... Um.... No..."
"Dammit Steven, you can't keep avoiding her!" I pause to think. "I mean, it's been two weeks since she's arrived here and she doesn't even know you're here!"
I see her beginning to walk towards us, so I keep Steven focused on me. "I know, I just don't have it in me to tell her."
Tom, Tyler, and Markus are all behind me and have already figured out what I'm doing, so they pitch in.
"Well, do you even have the slightest idea of what you're going to say when you gather the balls to tell her?" Markus asks, we all laugh.
"Well, I kind of have an idea... But I don't know if it's good enough..." He says, I can see him twiddling his thumbs. But I pick my head up to look behind him, to see Alex shocked. Because she already knew who Steven was by his voice and his.... the back of his head maybe?
"Well. Go on and say it." Tom encourages.
"Alright...." Steven picks his head and looks at all of us. "Alex, I never meant to leave that day. But they would have killed you if I hadn't gone with them, I wanted to stay with you... You were my closest friend and the one that's been there for me all through my life... You never knew how much I actually cared about you, I just acted like I hated you in the beginning. But then I gave you a chance and we've been close ever since, I hope you can forgive me, but I only did it to protect you"
