Chapter 8

The next morning, I wake up to my alarm clock. Yes, I had an alarm clock wake me up! Today's the day that Matt has his Today Show interview, and Today interviews are really early. I check my phone and see I have a text from Matt.

From Who Else Would It Be? ;)

Good morning, beautiful :) I'm sure you remember, but my interview is today! By the time you read this, I'll already be at the show getting ready so I won't be able to respond. Don't worry, I still remember what we talked about yesterday!

Flinging my phone onto the bed, I rush to the tv and quickly press the "on" button. The tv remains black, however, so I repeatedly jam my finger against the button. Sometimes the button gets stuck, so I have to keep pressing the button. This is one of those times, and it has horrible timing!

Finally, after my 34th press, the tv comes alive: colors start flashing across the screen and sounds emerge from the built in speakers. I grab the remote off of the dresser where my tv is and run back to my bed.

My room is the shape of a square. It's a 15'x15' room. Not that big but not that small either. The door is at the side of one of the walls. There is a nightstand next to the door, and my bed is next to the nightstand. There is a dresser across the room, and my tv is on top. Next to the dresser is my closet. My desk is on the wall across the room from the door. My desk has a mirror as well. My walls are striped--two different shades of blue. One baby blue and the other a slightly darker blue. It was inspired by The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. My floor is hardwood.

I use the remote to change the channel to the Today show, and I let out a sigh of relief when I see that Matt hasn't performed yet.

The Today hostess says, "Stay tuned! Coming up, Matt Meyers performs his latest hit, 'Just Us.' We then have an exclusive interview with him. This is all coming up on the Today Show."

I wonder what song Matt is going to perform. I hope he performs 'Between Me and You.' That's my favorite song of his! Matt wanted to keep me in the dark of what song he performs. I'm not sure why, but maybe it's because he wanted me to experience the suspense along with everyone else?

I get off of my bed and go to the bathroom across the hall so I can brush my teeth and wash my face. I take my electric toothbrush off the charger and squeeze the toothpaste on it. I then start brushing my teeth while looking at my reflection.

A girl with piercing blue eyes, sparkling from the light peers back at me. Her eyes are alive--more alive than ever. From them, you can see a mix of happiness, satisfaction, and eagerness. As cliche as this sounds, all of these were void before a certain someone came into her life. All her life, she had a pretty good childhood, but she never had something to live for--something that she looked forward to every morning. Now she does, and it shows.

After I rinse my mouth and wash my face, I give a quick smile at the mirror, then I go back to my bed in hopes that I haven't missed anything.

I sit on my bed and pile my pillows up so I have something to lean against while watching tv. Just as I finish, the show host announces, "And here is Matt Meyers, everyone!"

The music comes on and it brings a smile to my face. I know what song he is singing. It's 'The Two of Us.' This songs is about a girl and a guy who learn to trust each other and learn to lean on one another. I wonder if he chose this song on purpose. I make a mental note to ask him about it later.
