I come back to the world with no bearings and feeling totally groggy.  My captors have taken the foul smelling blindfold off my eyes; I suppose that they did that so that I can feel intimidated by my surroundings. It worked. Out of the locked doors keeping me inside the car I all I can see is brown and green murky sea water. I am completely and utterly stuck in the middle of nowhere. I look out of the window again to try and see any landmarks to identify where I am.  All that’s out there is sea, litter, and foam. I suddenly realise that cars can’t drive on water so I must be on some kind of ferry. Ferries have people on them. People can hear. I can yell. This is going to be my golden ticket out of here.

“Help!” I try yelling. “Please! Over here! Girl in trouble!” I start to realise that yelling random words really isn’t going to summon any attention, so I go for a different approach. I start screaming my head off.  I am so annoyed at everyone: at my captors for taking me here, at my mum and dad for not protecting me better, at the deaf people on this ship for not hearing me and coming to my rescue, at my best friend, Grace, for having to go to band practice and couldn’t come out with me, but most of all at myself for being so stupid to get myself into this mess.

Everything I see starts going red. The walls of this car, the windows, the roof, the endless sea outside and these stupid engines drowning out my yelling….. That’s why no one could hear me. It’s all these stupid engines fault. Stupid, stupid, stupid engines. Obviously they’re gonna put me where no one goes. They are good.

I feel my tummy growl under my now dirty and faded singlet. I am starting to feel really hungry. Those men took me at about 10 this morning, right after I got back from walking Poppy, my golden retriever. It must be around 4 in the afternoon by now and I didn’t have any breakfast this morning.
