A.N: Good morning/afternoon/evening!

Thank you for giving Borrowed Time a chance. :} I really appreciate it. Please let me know what you guys think either by voting or leaving a comment below. It's cool if you don't want to either. :}

First of all, English is NOT my first language – its Filipino – so please be patient with me if you see some wrong grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors let me know and I will happily change it.

I did proof-read this story but I'm only human and I will miss a few here and there. I'm not perfect and I'm not trying to be one. ;}

Anyway, I'll stop talking and let you get on with the story.

Enjoy!

Nessa xx

"I will grant your greatest desire but your soul will be mine".

On the night of my 13th birthday, I had a wonderful dream, or so I thought it was.

Now I believed it was a nightmare.

One thing I do know for sure.

That night, my fate was sealed.

I stretched happily, loving the warmth of my temporary bed. I opened my eyes and the first thing I saw was the empty space beside me.

"No wonder, it's so quiet." I muttered.

But like a jinx, the door of our room burst open as the twins barrelled in.

"We got a good deal with this fabrics! I can't wait to make new clothes!" Lys smiled happily. "Good morning Oleander. Slept well?"

"Good morning Lys, Ginrou. Why are you up so early?"

"Because last night, after you fell asleep straight after our performance. I went out to buy some food and asked around for places to buy materials. An old lady told me, if you go to the market before the sun is high in the sky. You get these amazing deals!" She yelled the last part excitedly.

"Lys, you are too loud. We'll get kicked out if you don't lower your voice." Ginrou snapped.

Lys glared at her younger twin. "You are such a mood killer."

The twins were like yin and yang. Lys who is always cheery and carefree while Ginrou is serious and quiet. But I would have never survive for six years without the two.

Lys was the one who will stay with me when I have my nightmares and encourage me not to give up. Ginrou always protected me from everything and sit next to me when I don't want to talk or to be alone. It was like fate brought the three of us together.

"You two should hurry up and eat or we will miss our chance to earn big this afternoon. After all, today is our last performance." Ginrou pulled some bread and jam out of the bag.

"What's happening this afternoon?" I asked.

Lys looked at me in the eyes and said, "I heard they are executing someone who's been using magic tonight in front of the great hall." Lys sat down next to Ginrou.

"How are we going to earn money from that?" I grimaced.

"According to the merchants, executions in this country especially one who study magic are treated as a festival. It is the best place and time to earn gold and silver coins. Nobles come out and watch the executions." Lys looked at her bread with sadness.
