9. Mark (Skater boy)

"Oh, it's you. You work here?" He asks. "Yeah, it's just part-time." You answer.

"I haven't actually introduced myself to you, right?" He asks again. "I'm Jackson." He sticks out his right hand and you shake it. "______." You introduce yourself.

Even after Jackson bought all his neccessities, he kept on talking to you. 'He's... talkative.' You thought to yourself.

"Goodbye unnie!" You thank the next shifter as you exit the mart together with Jackson.

"So, do you still have any work?" He asks all of a sudden.

"What do you think of me? A workaholic? Not even once, dude!" You laugh.

"If that's so, wanna go to a party with me?" He asks. You get suspicious then, you just met this guy and he's asking you out already. "Oh wait, sorry. You might be tired now."

"No it's okay. But maybe I could use a little energizer, I've been so stressed lately since there are lots of projects needed to be passed next week." You response.

"Really? You sure?" He asks again and you nod.

After a long drive in his car, he stops driving.

"Here we are!" Jackson drags you inside a house full of teenagers.

You see some boys doing a dance showdown. Some are riding a skateboard, and some are drinking alcohol. There are also some couples kissing and some of them are the same gender.

Jackson notices how you are uncomfortable with this. So he holds your hand and pulls you outside.

"I thought that you were going to like it here, but it just made you uncomfortable, sorry." He scratches his nape (back of the neck).

"It's ok-" You stop when Jackson pulls you into a hug. You startle, but you realize that he did this because a guy had almost hit your back when he skateboarded.

"Are you alright?" He pulls out of the hug. "Yah! You almost hit her!" Jackson turns to the guy.

You turn to see the boy and find that Mark was the skater boy.

"It's that b*tch's fault for being on the way!" Mark shouts that makes Jackson furious.

"Don't call her that!" Out of the blue, Jackson punches him.

"Mark!" You run to the wounded Mark.

"You know this guy?" Jackson asks, surprised.

You ignore him and continue to see if Mark is alright. "Mark, can you hear me?"

"_____?" He sits up and looks at your worried face. "What are you doing here?"

"How does your face feel? Is it that bad? I'm gonna call an ambulance." You stick out your phone but he shoves it away. "Don't." He gets up.

Jackson suddenly pulls you by hand, but Mark holds your other hand.

"Why are you taking her?" Mark asks looking violently at Jackson.

"I'm taking away the girl you called 'b*tch' from you." With that, Jackson pulls you, leaving Mark dumbfounded.

You are walking to the cafeteria when you notice that you haven't seen Mark the whole day. You walk around to look for him but still, he is nowhere to be found. You ask his friends but they say that they don't know where he is.

"______!" A deep toned voice calls out your name. It's Jackson.

You turn around and see his arms over a girl's shoulder.

"Oh, Jackson." You make a faded smile.

"This is ______, my girlfriend." He says, smiling. 'He's... taken' You think to yourself.

You make a slight nod and smile. "Hi, I'm ______, nice to meet you!" You offer your hand for a shake and she shakes it.

The girl's smile fades away as she looks behind you. You and Jackson turn to the sight where Mark is walking toward you.

"Mark?" You mutter to yourself.

"So, this is the guy I got busted for?" Mark says and you get surprised. Jackson's girlfriend is the girl whom Mark was courting before.

She stays silent and Jackson speaks for her. "Get lost before I smack your face again."

Mark snickers and then turns his gaze to you. You avoid his eyes and bow your head a little, while slowly making your way out the awkward situation.

"_____!" Mark calls you but you don't turn around. This makes you walk faster until you run away from him.

You end up at the rooftop of your school. You, yourself do not realize that you're now crying because of unknown reasons. 'Was it because Jackson having a girlfriend?' You say no to this, because you don't even feel anything special toward him. 'Or was it because Mark still likes the girl?' You say maybe, maybe because you're jealous.

Many reasons come to your mind until you hear a door shut behind you. You turn around and see Mark panting.

"Get out of here, I don't want to see your face ever again!" You shed more tears.

He doesn't listen as he walks toward you, making you step backwards as he does.

Once there is no space left for you to step on, you stop in despair. When Mark notices this, he stops too.

"______, I-I'm sorry." He falls down to his knees.

"What did you say?" You ask because he mumbled the last sentence.

Finally, he stands up and he hugs you tightly, something you haven't felt after a long time.

"Mianhae, mianhae, mianhae." He cuts in after every sniff.

Not knowing what to do, you instantly hug him too. This makes you happy and you know that there can be no safer place than in his arms.

He pulls out from the hug and cups your cheeks. He stares at you intently, then he kisses you in your lips. It was a soft and gentle peck that lasted only for 5 seconds.

"I didn't know I would feel this toward you, but I-I... I love you ______." He hugs you in his arms again.

You give him a smile and he brushes your lips again with a more passionate and longer kiss.
