The surrounding trees rustle quietly in the wind as a few more leaves fall signalling the beginning of British autumn; otherwise known as winter: part one.
Karlie stamps out her cigarette and feels the last hot smoky breath leave her lungs. The satisfying burn in her throat gives her the courage to walk through the gates.
Her parents had just stranded her in a foreign country for "her own good".
The rules here are reasonably strict, no smoking, no swearing, no alcohol, no drugs, no fun, no nothing. The brunette was never one for rules.
The girl fumbles in her pocket for her headphones before turning the volume up to maximum and grabbing her bags to walk to the principals office across the school grounds.

Once seated, the woman sat across from Karlie gestures across to her for her to remove her earphones. As if compromising the younger girl removes one.
"Welcome Karlie to Cheshire boarding school, I am miss Hudson your Principal", she says way too enthusiastically, smiling widely.
"Hi", is the only reply Karlie can muster in her emotional state.
"I understand this must be hard for you, moving abroad for boarding school so to make you feel more at home and to help you through this difficult time I have assigned you a personal tutor, Miss Swift. She's also American and will be teaching you English. You'll see her on a regular basis, think of her more of a friend than a teacher, you two will get along great." She states matter-of-factly.
"I'm sure we will", the sarcasm drips off every word.
"Well Miss Swift has your room key and wants to meet you straight away so if you would like to make your way to room 22 you are free to go". She smiles at me weakly. "One last thing actually. Karlie I am aware of your... uh... history. I'm telling you right now that we will not give up on you no matter what it takes I will see you graduate next summer but that doesn't mean we will tolerate any rule breaks".
"Alright Miss, see you around". Karlie manages a weak smile in response and turns to walk out.

Surprisingly, Karlie didn't get lost on her way. She tilts her head to look up to the number on the room before consulting her map just one more time to check, 22, Miss Swifts office.
Almost instantly after knuckles hit wood a sweet voice says "come in". If she looks as good as she sounds I think I will be just fine, is Karlie's only thought.
The girls hand reaches downwards to the door handle and pushes to reveal a lavish interior. It is well lit. The large windows make way for a flood of light to enter the room and make the soft black couch to the left seem to glow. The grey carpet looks rough and on the far side across from Karlie is a table and chair positioned next to a guitar hung on the wall. To the right is a desk littered with paper and sat behind it was a woman.
Her blue eyes immediately penetrate Karlie's green ones. Her blonde hair falls effortlessly to the sides of her face and her lips are a vibrant shade of red.
She stands up to greet Karlie.
"Hello Karlie, I'm Miss Swift," she says in her American accent that matched Karlie's perfectly.
She is tall, but not quite as tall as her student, and wearing a black turtle-neck with black skinny jeans and black boots. The jeans tightly hug her abnormally long legs. A smile is plastered on her face revealing her teeth.
"Hot", is blurted out of the younger girls mouth barely above a whisper. It was originally intended to be a thought. The green eyed girl's face visibly heats up as she stammers to correct herself, "uh I mean.. uh hi, I'm Karlie". The brunette says flustered.
