Paul has been acting strangely these past few days. He's kept his promise and hasn't been drinking, thank goodness, but I'm still worried about him.
Right now, he's stretched out on my sofa, arm slung over his eyes. I smile as I go over and sit on his legs, causing him to gasp and sit up.
"Don't scare me like that!" he scolds. I laugh briefly, but bite my lip as I look at him.
"Are you all right?"
"You ask me that a lot, you know," he points out.
"I'm sorry. I just want—"
I'm cut off by the sound of the doorbell.
