Watching the green fire Chris felt at peace, Minny, Lila, Jean, and Avery were playing tag, running around the fire, and if Chris's mind hadn't been preoccupied with other matters, he would have been worried. A tap on his shoulder broke his concentration, a hand with fingernails painted black, with the pattern of a computer chip in magenta and gold, and a swirling tattoo on the wrist, but he noticed one other thing about it.
"You were with the Romans?" he asked, looking at the torch and key, overlapping in an X, with SPQ in bold letters, and one line under it. The black stood out against her tanned skin, "Yeah, but they just weren't for me. Called me a daughter of Trivia, and tried to box me in with their rules, so I bailed, grabbed my backpack and went on the road." Pixie said with a shrug, eyes somewhere between green and gold. "When did you get here?" Chris asked, he was starting to enjoy Pixie's company, she just stated things, about herself and the world around her. He was starting to guess the past, present, and future were no exception. "Eh, ran out of supplies and had a hound behind me. Ran into the border so hard I knocked myself out, woke up in infirmary." Pixie said, eyes turning lavender, "You know you're really open." Chris commented, Pixie's eyes turned icy, blue-grey, "Yeah, I get that a lot." she said, lavender eyes searing him.
"Hey Pixie, you can read people really well, and read palms, anything else?" Chris asked, "Lots, manipulate mist, change fire's color, cast spells, and use pretty much any fortune telling method to actually tell the future." she listed, that was unbelievably cool. Chris was smart, that was his ability from Athena, whereas Jean could do healing stuff and musical magic, and Pixie could do all that. "That is so cool!" he remarked, Pixie's eyes swirled between dark blue and magenta, "No... it's not." she mumbled, "It's not 'cool' to be a freak, it's not 'cool' to see the future, to see bad things happen, but never be able to change them." she snapped. She scratched the back of her head, "Sorry, you didn't know, but this conversation is treading sensitive ground. So, can we talk about something else?" Pixie forced out, Chris nodded, "Do you wanna know how Camp Half Blood is doing?" he asked, "Yeah, how is the place, Chiron still in charge?" she asked, "Yup, and things are going great.", Pixie smiled.
"So, those four, the other demigods, who are there parents?" Pixie asked, "That boy, Jean, son of Apollo, the blond girl, Avery, daughter of Athena, the other boy, Blake, I honestly have no clue, and lastly, the brunet with the white tips, Erica, daughter of Zeus." Chris listed, "Oh wow, real assortment there, ya know if Blake sticks around I'd love having him around the unclaimed cabin." Pixie commented, and Chris nodded, "I'm sure he'd enjoy himself too.". "So no plans for the future? 'Cause I'm gonna go, just travel, with a backpack full of survival gear and a map. Just explore the world, travel the open road." Pixie suddenly said, why was she telling him this?
What she said next took Chris a while to register. 'How would you like to tag along?', was she really inviting someone she just met to travel with her? He looked and saw her eyes were quickly blurring form one color to the next, and something told him this was more than just an offer to travel too her, that maybe this was more important than he knew. "Sure." he said, and her eyes finally settled, one green one blue. "Hey Pixie, what color are they really?" Chris suddenly asked, "What?" Pixie asked, surprised, "What color are your eyes really? Like, was there a time when they didn't change color?" Chris clarified, "Oh," Pixie said, thinking, "I think they were green." she finally said. They sat there for a while, until everyone started leaving.
Until eventually Pixie sat there, alone, starring at the tiny flames that used to be the bonfire. "Hm, it's funny how it turns out," she mumbled, throwing something into the fire, "Thanks Mom, for letting me know what I've lost before I've lost it." she said, venom, a mix of anger, sorrow, jealousy, and resentment dripping from her voice. As she walked away she mumbled something. The wind blew out the flames, and a faint chuckling could be heard on the wind.
Well that's enough foreshadowing for now. Sorry I haven't updated, been really busy.-Zebella
