"Don't we have a senior skip-day next week?" Xavier reassure.
"And a senior picnic." Christian adds on before going back to his phone.
"Don't forget graduation." Nolan adds on as well.
Claire huffs in frustration while Nolan, Calvin, and I chuckles at Claire's annoyance. "You, people, don't understand the importance of prom. You guys are ... Guys. That's the best thing I can come up with on why you guys don't understand."
Oh yes, how can I forget? When it comes to prom, girls goes ballistic. Always wanting that fairytale night. .. Maybe, I want that too. Looking towards Nolan, I picture our night. Him and me. Holding each other close as we sway to the slow, steady beat. Surrounding ourselves with our friends as we make the night memorable. Then later on the night, Nolan and I will play all through the night - if you know what I mean. Thinking about the many positions, many opportunities we can do grabs Nolan's attention as he says,
"What are you thinking about?"
I let out an embarrassing cough as I say, "nothing."
"Nolan!" I hear Paul yelling out my boyfriends name, grabbing all of our attention. Sweat glistens all over his shirtless body. Same goes for Marcus. "Join us, man."
"If that's alright with you, Scott." Marcus adds.
"Have fun." I just say, earning a small kiss. Nolan gets off the grass, dusting away any dirt on his cargo shorts. Before heading off to Paul and Marcus, he deliberately takes off his dark grey gym shirt and throws it directly to my face. Chuckles from Claire and Calvin I heard as I remove his sort of sweaty shirt, throwing him an amusing glare. All he did was wink at me before running off to play ball. For the rest of our time, Claire blabbered on about prom while Calvin pretends to listen, mindlessly agreeing to whatever she ask of him. I watched my best friend with a secret amusement, seeing the twinkle of excitement in her eyes and hearing her mouth run like a motor. Seriously, some of what she's saying - you'll probably won't understand a word. Xavier excused himself a couple of minutes after Nolan went to play, saying he need to check something in his locker. He stood up as quick and left in an instance, not giving me the chance if he needed help. Quite frankly, the way he presented himself seems like something is wrong, so I went to go follow him, telling Claire and Calvin that I'm going to check if he needed that help I was going to offer.
I walk to where his locker is located, seeking out for him - only to see an empty hallway, which clarifies my suspicion on his sudden change of behavior. Looking around for any signs of civilian, I see a puff of smoke floating in the air by an open window. With a sigh of concern, I walk out where the smoke came from, seeing Xavier with his back on the wall, his eyes closed with a cigarette just hanging in his mouth.
"You know how much I hate it when you smoke." No frighten reaction comes from him. He simply opens one eye and looks over to me. I stand with my arms cross. Balancing myself on one leg, I stare with dead eyes as I watch him inhale from the cigarette and let out the puff of smoke. With my one eyebrow raised, I see his shoulder raise and fall and takes out the cigarette from his mouth, but doesn't throw it.
"Scott —"
"What's wrong?" I ask, walking closer to him.
"Nothing's wrong, Scott." The way he said it would make anyone believe that there was nothing wrong, but dating someone for quite some time would make you notice the small changes in a person.
