There used to be a time

Before we all lost our innocence

When the world had a spark

and our imaginations were on fire

before society and social normativity's wrapped their vice like hands around our minds

we grew up being told "different is bad"

we grew up to conform, to join our "groups"

we grew up to form vicious packs, and outsiders, they never stand a chance.

If your imagination still burns bright and you have any aspect of self-representation you are deemed "weird".

In a society where being "weird" is worse that being a killer.

To be different is to stand out and to stand out is to become a target.

With the target on your back you fall prey to the vicious packs , like wolves on an injured calf.

The difference, we as people don't need to be in packs and harm others to get what we want, animals have no other choice.

Yet we are NOT animals?

We hurt, exclude and kill to make our way to the top.

We are no more than animals.

When we are young we are sheltered away from the harsh reality of the world.

A world where change is feared and individuality is a death sentence.

A world where innocence is taken lightly and disregarded until it is gone and we have been exposed.

Cut by reality to the bone.
