My alarm is blaring at me. I wake up in a foggy daze and peer at my phone, it's reads 2 AM. I shake my head, confused. I quickly realize that we have to be at the airport in an hour and groan. I shove Etienne awake and start gathering together my bags and checking if I have everything. Etienne groans and I throw a shoe at him, "come one! We're gonna miss the flight." I had set the alarm an hour before we even needed to be there (I was giving us half an hour before the time we were supposed to board) so that we would be able to fight a bit and
catch a cab. Etienne mumbled something and then rolled over. I jumped onto the bed and kissed his hairline,
"Get uppppp!" I groan and he groans back but eventually gets out of bed.
Half an hour later we're in the backseat of a cab together and Etienne is chattering to me in French. I'm blushing a deep scarlet, I love it when he talks in French to me. He made me continue to practice after we graduaated from SOAP so that we could have our own little secret language that no one else around us knew. Of course French isn't so secret of a language when you're in Paris, English would most definitely be more secretive, but it's not really about the secretiveness, it's just about how damn sexy it is,
"Mon petit chérie..." he coos, "Je t'aime au clair de lune." This means I love you in the moonlight. It isn't the most profound saying but I love it all the same. I love everything about him. The cabby pulls to a stop at the airport. He smiles to us while we pay him and we get into the airport, dreading to be leaving the beautiful Paris
***
We board the plane after a long wait in a multiple lines with screaming babies and scary security guards. Etienne and I have our hands tangled together and we take our seats. I lean my head on his shoulder and take a glance at my ring. We stayed for another week after he proposed, Lola and Cricket left yesterday and Josh and Isla are of course still in Paris. Well we're still here, but not for long...
If you're wondering about Isla and Josh, they made up and seem to be doing well. They made up at least. We visited them most days. They're living together but Josh has to be all secretive, very Romeo and Juliet.
Anyway. I'm rubbing my thumb over Etienne's knuckle when they announce that we're are about to go into takeoff. They tell us to turn off our phones and we do so. The plane starts to move and we slowly ascend into the sky.
When we are flying smoothly Etienne and I turn back on our phones. Etienne gives me a confused look and shows me his screen: 16 missed calls and 7 texts. All from Josh.
