A/N: Another really short chapter from Sophie's POV as I take a break from studying for exams. Here it is!

Sophie didn't know where she was. She didn't know who she was or what she was. All she knew was that it was her fault.

She floated around aimlessly in the piercing darkness. Someone tried to rouse her awake a few times, but it hurt so much that she blocked it. The dark shards were all around her.

She wanted to escape but she couldn't. Besides, why escape when there was nowhere to escape to?

That was, until she heard the voice.

Sophie.

So her name was Sophie. Memories began to slowly flood back. She was 14 years old. She was and elf. And that voice... She recognized that voice.

It's me, Fitz. I'm here to fix you.

Fitz... She tried to recall who that was. An image of impossibly teal eyes formed in her mind, followed by rock star black hair and a movie star smile. Fitz Vacker.

What happened to Keefe... It's not your fault. You couldn't have prevented it.

His voice sounded so pained. Sophie tried to remember why, trying to recall who Keefe was. Messy blond hair. Ice blue eyes. A smirk that morphed into a sad smile as he left to the ogre cities to... To join the Neverseen.

The dark shards pierced her mind as she attempted to recall the memory. The guilt threatened to suck her back in just as Fitz transmitted again.

We can get him back. And I'll be by your side the whole time.

She had a reason to fight back now.

I love you, Sophie Foster. And I couldn't live without you. Please come back.

Memories flooded back rapidly as the happiness overcame the guilt. She was Sophie Foster, the girl created to save the world and heal broken minds. She couldn't afford to be broken.

Smiling, she transmitted the two words.

I'm back.
