Chapter 81
{Em's POV} I half drag Matt to our room and I get ready for bed in the bathroom. I walk out and see Matt sitting on the bed, staring into space. His eyes are red and he is only wearing his slacks in attempt to change. "How about a shirt Matt?" I say jokingly trying to lighten the mood. "My mom thinks that she can't trust me." He mumbles. I sit down next to him. "Matt, what's going to happen when I'm supposed to start showing? What if she starts asking questions? What if-" He cuts me off. "I KEEP LOSING EVERYTHING!" He screams and covers his face with his hands. Then, he flops backwards and rubs his hands over his face to his hair line, pushing back his hair. He's violently shaking. I lean over his face; his eyes are glassy with fresh tears that are threatening to spill onto his cheeks. "My mom hates me." He says softly. First, I feel it in my throat. "Matt, how could anyone ever hate you?!" The next thing I know I feel hot tears running down my cheeks. "Especially your mother." I finish through tears. He sits up quickly. "Oh, Em don't cry." He hugs me tightly. "I can't help it." I sob. "You hardly ever cry, why are you crying for me now?" I sit back and my lip quivers. "It hurts me so much that you're hurting. I know I caused this too, but Matt you can never make your mother hate you. You can never make me hate you." He wraps me up into his arms. "I'll never hate you either." He whispers into my ear. "Because I'll always love you Em." He finishes. We lie down with me still wrapped in his arms and Matt falls asleep, while I lie there awake.
Chapter 82
{Andrew's POV} I wake up to Sadie's screams. It's still dark outside. I shake her awake and she has tears running down her cheeks. I hold her shaking body. "Shhhh it was just a dream." I say trying to calm her down. "But, it actually happened." She says in between sobs. "I'm tired of living this nightmare! Matt probably hates my guts because my ex killed his best friend, who was basically his brother. I should have never dated that jerk....he even dated my friends too....I hate him so much." She continues to sob. "I'm sorry Andrew." She wipes her face. "Why are you apologizing, you know you can tell me anything and everything." She sighs. "I know, but I've been crying too much and I hate to force you to deal with my problems. You have other things to worry about." I tilt her chin so she's looking at me. "Sadie, you are the one thing that I worry about the most." She frowns. "What?" I ask. "You have bigger things to worry about than me." She says. "Aw, no. Sadie you are my world. I will always be here for you to talk whenever you want." She presses her lips together. "You have always been here for me." She places a hand gently on my chest. "You have always been kind to me and loved me." I say. "That's more than I could ever ask for." I say before she grips my t-shirt and pulls me into a kiss. "I never knew how much I could really love you. Thank you for always being here for me." She says softly as our heads are pressed together. She hugs me. "Never leave me again, Andrew." She says into my shoulder. "Wherever I go, I'll take you with me." She falls asleep again with her arms wrapped around me. I begin to drift off once she falls asleep. "Matt doesn't hate her, nobody hates her." I think to myself as my eyelids close.
Chapter 83
{Andrew's POV} I walk around my empty room. This is it, we're really moving. I don't even get the chance to say goodbye to my neighbor, best friend, and not to mention my major crush. We pass by their house and she's outside playing catch with her dad, smiling the whole time. I wish I was there.... She doesn't even know I'm moving... When I was fourteen we moved back into the same neighborhood. The year my parents died. I came home from school and they were gone. I sprint to Sadie's house, through the crisp fall air. I knock on the door. "Well, hello Andrew." Mrs. Hayes smiles welcoming me. "Sadie?" She calls. She's wearing jeans and a flannel shirt. She wears her brown, wavy hair down. She looks great. "Hi." She smiles. "Please, come in." Her mother says politely. We sit at the kitchen table, the three of us. My basketball hoodie sticks to my arms. "My parents are gone..." I say with a lump in my throat. "What do you mean gone?" Sadie says frantically and concerned. "Dead." I say quietly as my tears begin to fall. Mrs. Hayes stands up and hugs me and pets my hair. She leaves the room to get Mr. Hayes. This leaves Sadie and I alone. "I'm so sorry, Andrew." We stand up at the same time and she offers a hug, which I accept. I was going to tell her today, too. Tell her that, I loved her. "Hey bud." Mr. Hayes walks into the room. He tousles my hair. "You are more than welcome to stay here." He says. "Thank you." I say. "Ah, it's the least we can do." He says. "Can Andrew and I go for a walk in the woods?" Sadie asks, knowing that it's one of my favorite places to think. "Alright, but be back for dinner." I nod. Mr. Hayes catches my shoulder. "Stay strong buddy." I look at the floor. "Has anything else strange occurred lately?" He asks. I think about it. "Someone special?" He asks. "You could say that..." The adults look at each other worriedly. "Go have fun, be careful." I walk out the door. “It’s starting.” I hear Mrs. Hayes say frantically as I walk out the door. "There you are, let's go." She grabs my arm. "Do you know how to use a bow?" I ask. She shakes her head. "Can I teach you?" She smiles. "Sure!" I pull my bow out and load it. This will temporarily keep my mind off of things. I instruct her where to hold it. "And then, you pull this arm back." I help her by wrapping my arms around hers as a guide. "Like this?" She asks and looks at me. Her eyes sparkle. I nod. "There ya go." I inhale her perfume, that's loosing its scent. She releases and hits the target. "Good job!" I give her a high five. Then, we look at each other. There's something between us that I can't look away. I finally look away embarrassed. "Thank you, for uh teaching me." She says. She surprises me by hugging me tightly. "I'm so sorry." She says into my shirt. I can tell she's crying. "Don't, I'll start too." I say. "It's ok Andrew, it's just me and you're my best friend."
