Chapter 52
{Matt's POV} Em just sits there quietly. I remove the strap of my saxophone and sit down next to her. I put my arm around her and pull her close to me. "Where have you been Matt? I've been search for you forever with no luck! Everyday I missed the sound of your saxophone in band when you left!" She has tears running rapidly down her cheeks. "I thought you hated me, everything about me! I cried everyday after you moved! Everyday!" I wipe away the tears. "I'm here now and I will never leave without you, no matter what. I LOVE everything about you! I never hated you. How could anyone ever hate you?! Wait don't answer that! The point is it's going to take a lot to get rid of me." I chuckle. I tuck her hair behind her ear and lift up her chin. She wraps her arms around my shoulders. Our lips collide, warm and sweet. We end up lying down on the blanket her head on my chest. My head buried in her hair. I look up and see Sadie and Andrew napping on the chair with Sadie curled up on his lap. Em and I laugh a little. "I really missed you Em, more than you will ever know." She nuzzles deep into my chest not wanting to say any words. {Em's POV} I nuzzle deep into his chest. He smells good, like he sprayed cologne before this and not like the cheep middle school kind, the good kind. "I love you, Matt" I murmur. "I love you, too. Always know that." He says into my ear giving me the chills. I've always wished for a moment like this and now it's here.
Chapter 53
{Sadie's POV} "Sadie wake up!" I hear a deep voice. I look up and Andrew is still sleeping. I carefully crawl off of his lap. It's Matt standing there. "Do you remember me?" "What do you mean?" "I was in your homeroom with Em." "Wait.... You played saxophone! YOU PLAY SAXOPHONE AND EM HAD A CRUSH ON YOU! AND NOW YOU'RE HERE AND TOGETHER!!!!" He covers my mouth with his hand. "Well I had a crush on her too. It's hard not to..." I smile, but then frown. "But, you were so mean to her. She never cried over a guy before....." "She cried over me?" He asks and I nod. "You were the crazy one but, always there for her?" I nod. He squeezed me tight. "How can I ever thank you?! You were always there when I was such a jerk." I smile mischievously. "Forgive Em and any of her friends who bugged you. One more thing, have better grammar." "That was you?!" He asks. "Yup I'm the grammar Nazi but, you'll thank me later." I smiled again. "Thank you, Sadie! You are kinda like the little sister I never had but, also my girlfriend’s best friend. I know it's weird, but thank you for not coming between us." He hugs me. Another person comes up behind us. "Group hug!" We all laugh. I turn to the third person. "Morning sleepy head." He makes a face at me. Ahh gotta love Andrew's sense of humor! "I'd love to stay, but we gotta talk to Lizzie. Are you staying?" Andrew asks. "Yup, I don't wanna wake Em." He smiles. "Can you take the guitar back?" "Sure thing! Good luck guys, remember she is my mom..." "We'll meet you back here. See ya later!" With that we duck out of the door. I have butterflies and my palms are sweaty. Here we go.
Chapter 54
{Sadie's POV} Andrew and I jog down the steps. He opens the door and I jump. Lizzie is standing before us, arms crossed and a smile across her face. "If it isn't my trouble makers." She says. Andrew steps in front of me. "Whatever you do don't hurt Sadie!" "Why would I hurt her? Why would I hurt you? We're family. That was quite a show you two put on out there. From training to the date." I blush. "You saw that?" "Everything." She answers eyes wide. I shudder a little at the fact she was spying on us. "Well, Matt knows the plan so I need to tell you guys. Tomorrow at training, you all need to be a team. Got it?" I nod. "Is that it?" "Yes, thank you. Andrew," She touches his shoulder. "You did amazing today; I didn't mean the things I said. You're such a great guy." She smiles. "And a great singer." She laughs. "Sadie." Andrew nudges me forward. "You can change everything. You use very powerful words, in a good way." "Yeah!" Andrew says. "You know I miss him too?" "My father?" She nods. "I never got to say goodbye. Matt and the twins never really knew him. I wish they did. God! I see so much of him in you, sometimes I can't handle it." Tears are forming in her eyes. "Hey, he said it’s not goodbye forever." She nods. A tear rolls down her cheek. "Look, it's going to be ok. I don't even know what we're fighting for, but it's going to be ok." She pulls me into her arms and squeezes me. "Thank you, Sadie." She takes her finger and wipes away a tear. "You and Matt have the same relationship that your father and I had. It makes me feel good." I half smile. "You're free to go. Thanks again." I turn to Andrew. "Are you going to be okay?" "Uh huh." Lizzie sniffles. "I need to be alone." "Ok." Andrew gives her an understanding look. "Take care." He taps her shoulder and follows me up the stairs. When he catches up, he laces his fingers with mine. I smile all the way to the roof, bubbling with happiness.
