{Sadie's POV} I sit up and Em begins to braid my hair again, but tighter. Her own hair is thrown into a ponytail. I sigh. This reminds me of gym class at home. I know Em doesn't miss P.E., but I kind of do. Matt bursts out of the bathroom. "Ready?" "Sure, Sadie help me up!" Em says after I spring up. We all walk out to the elevator together. When it arrives, we step in and Matt hits the button the doors close on us. Andrew squeezes my shoulder. Probably in reassurance. All I know is I'm scared out of my mind.
Chapter 46
{Sadie's POV} I look around nervously. "Hey Matt?" I ask with a shaky voice. "Yeah?" He answers and spins around to face me. "Is there gonna be other people there?" "Of course Sadie! They want to see who's the most successful." I gag a little. "Don't worry just stick together." Andrew says and rubs my back soothingly. "I-I just-don't wanna-" I stammer. "What? Scare the other girls?" Matt jokes. I glare at him. "Besides you need to show em what you got, same with you Em." "They better watch their backs." Em says balling up her fists. "What exactly am I gonna show them?" Andrew whips me around and looks me in the eyes. His hands are on both of my shoulders, his grip firm but not painful like Lucas's. "Sadie Hayes, what the hell are you talking about1? You are fierce, trained in archery, and so damn sexy! You leave me speechless every time I look at you. You are the reason I wake up every morning and you can do anything." His deep voice trails off it sounds like he's going to cry. His glassy eyes show the lack of sleep and prove my suspicion. I grab his face with both hands. "Don't cry for me." Our noses are touching. "You my darling are worth crying for." He backs me into the elevator wall. Then, he too grabs my face and we are kissing within seconds. The kiss lasts longer than I intended and we only stop because I feel the elevator rumble to a stop. We pull away reluctantly and smile to each other. "You are also a great kisser." I giggle and bite my lip. I find myself blushing. "Not so bad yourself Gray." "EW, get a room." Em rolls her eyes as she steps off the elevator. My legs feel like jelly before stepping into training. I take a deep breath. If I don't do this for myself, I have to do it for Andrew, my parents, his parents, Em, my cousins, all of their parents, and my aunt?
Chapter 47
{Andrew's POV} "Welcome to your first day of training everyone! Remember show us your strong points and learn a few skills along the way. This is the time to make friends, so don't be afraid to introduce yourself. I think that's it! Lunch is at noon! See you all later!" Lizzie ends the announcement and Sadie rolls her eyes. "You know she's not that bad." Matt whispers. "I know. I'm not sure why Sadie hates her so much." I whisper back. "Just give it time." Matt says and I nod. We walk over to the bows. {Sadie's POV} I reach the bows and touch the cool silver metal. I make my selection and pick up a quiver filled with matching arrows. The string is stiffer than I'm used to but, I can manage. I line up at the target and escape from the world around me. It's just me and the target. I reach for an arrow and string my bow. I inhale and pull back the string. I exhale as I release the string and send the arrow flying. It lands directly in the center. I repeat the same process over and over. Each time I aim at a new target. When I run out of arrows I notice the crowd gathered around me. I scan the surprised faces. "What?" I ask expecting an answer. Instead everyone shuffles away and pretends to be doing something. "Sadie?" I spin in the direction of the voice. "May I speak with you?" It's my aunt and I can't say no, so I follow her into the hall. "Where did you learn to shoot like that?"
Chapter 48
{Sadie's POV} "Why is that important?" I try to avoid the question. "Your parents could never shoot like that. I want to know. Where?" She looks at me expectantly. "Andrew." I mumble. "Is he better than you?" I shrug. "Come on show me. Both of you." She takes my wrist and pulls me back into the training room. I see Em focused on knife throwing. I smile a little. Her expression is the most serious I've seen from her and she hits the target almost every time. I scan the room and see the guys sword fighting. Lizzie marches up to Andrew. "Show me your archery skills." She demands. All eyes are on us. Andrew selects a bow and I toss him a quiver. He shoots and misses. "Are you sure you learned from him?" Lizzie says in a condescending voice. "Don't talk about my fiancé that way!" I yell. "Sadie do not talk to your aunt that way! It's fake anyways!" I hear gasps. I walk over to Andrew and whisper in his ear. "Do it for me babe. Please just show them how you showed me. It's real, not fake. My love is real too. Come on just show them." He nods and his expression immediately transforms into the determined Andrew which I love to see. His eyebrows creased, green eyes narrowed, and his mouth in a tight line. Occasionally he licks his lips. Sexy, fierce, and amazing. Nobody will mess with him. "Are you going to shoot or not?!" Lizzie hisses. He pulls the string and aims, but not at the target. Instead he aims at the ridiculous hair piece that was positioned neatly at the top of Lizzie's head. Her arms were folded and she wore a scowl until she notices the arrow pointed at her head. I laugh her frightened expression. {Andrew's POV} All eyes are in us. I can't screw this up. "Do it for me babe." Sadie's voice bounces around in my head. The anger of Lizzie's comment bubbles over and I release the arrow. It pins the hair piece to the wall. "Do you believe me now Lizzie?!" Sadie taunts. "That's enough hon." "No it's ok, I underestimated you. Andrew let her go." Sadie shakes her head. "What did I just hear that right?" "Sadie, I want to help you, not hurt you." "You already hurt all of us so why are you saying this now?" The crowd roars in agreement. "Fine. I'll talk to you two later." With that Lizzie storms away. Sadie make a tiny noise and jumps into my arms. "You did it." She whispers. "Not without you." I answer. "Do you know what we got ourselves into?" "Don't worry about that now." She runs her delicate fingers through my hair while I embrace her. "Hey guys look!" I hear Matt call. "Up here!"
