Chapter 42

{Sadie's POV} I lay in Andrew's lap, tears falling down my cheeks. He strokes my hair and kisses the tears away. "What exactly happened Sadie?" Matt asks calmly. "L-Lucas" I stammer. "He was in here! Over there!" I point to the closet. Andrew hands Matt a knife and Matt walks over to the double doors. "He had ripped clothes and blood running down his face. He had a bruise on his face and his exposed stomach." Lucas's muscles were very undefined in contrast to Andrew's defined six pack. I tremble as Matt opens the door, knife raised. He starts slowly, and then flings open the door. "Nobody's here Sadie." "What!? He was-what?!" "Sadie, you're probably just seeing things. After last night, I would see things like that too." says Matt. "Don't worry Sadie; I won't ever leave your side! Starting right now!" Andrew takes over. "And if anybody gives you two trouble, I'll get'em!" Matt adds. "What's going on?! Is everything ok?! Sadie?! Matt?! Andrew?!" Em yells standing in the doorway. "I'm fine!" I call. "No you're not." She walks over and I sit up. "What happened here!?" She scans the room and sees Matt with the knife and raises her eyebrows. He just nods and gestures to me and Andrew. Andrew repeats my story. Em hugs me. "Can we talk alone boys?" "Ok." Andrew looks worriedly at me but I signal him to keep going. "Let's get breakfast." Matt suggests and the guys leave closing the door behind them. "Sadie what's really going on?"

Chapter 43

{Sadie's POV} "It's a combination of everything. My parents are gone, Lucas, and now here. I think they are trying to control us Em. I'm scared, helpless, and confused." "Shut up! You are not helpless! How did you escape?!" "I set off an explosion." I mumble. "How do you hunt?!" "A bow and arrows." I say in the same monotone voice. "See! And you saw what we did to Lucas yesterday! Plus, Sadie you know my parents are gone too." I just nod. "Sadie I have a secret to tell you. Well, not really a secret but, just- don't freak out ok?" She asks her serious blue eyes looking into mine. "Ok, promise."  "Ok, so notice how Matt has been acting with you." "Protective? Concerned? Sweet?" "Uhhh yeah. Well, it's not just him acting like a gentleman to his girlfriend's best friend. Kind of like- what's the word?" "Brotherly?" "Exactly! I've never seen him act like that before. I asked him last night what was going on." She pauses. "You're aunt is divorced, she uses her maiden name mostly for your case. Well, they had three kids." I cut her off. "So, what are you saying!?" "Matt is your half cousin."

Chapter 44

{Em's POV} Sadie stares at me in shock and I explain further. "The two who greet us are Matt's brother and sister, they are twins" "So I'm related to them too?!" I nod. Sadie runs over to the door and I chase after her. She has always been faster than me. "Sadie wait!!! Where are you going?!" I follow her to the elevator, which she is forced to stop because the stairs are on the other side. I am out of breath and she punches the button. "Sadie where are you going?" "To find Matt." She returns. "Why are you angry?" "Em, I just found out you are dating my cousin and my aunt is a liar. Yeah it's been such a great day already." She says sarcastically. "Don't be mad at Matt please. It's not his fault; he was going to tell you today. I-I really love him and hate to see him hurt." I mange to say. "It's a lot to process." "Sadie, he really cares about you. He wants to keep you safe." "Em, what if Andrew was your cousin? Huh?" She looks at me. "I wouldn't be mad....you love him and you're my best friend!" "Ok but the whole thing is weird and shocking and I'm really confused." "It's ok to be confused Sadie. Come on let's go get ready." "Alright." She agrees. We silently walk back to her room. "Does Andrew know?" She asks. I shake my head. "Unless Matt told him, no." "Well breakfast should be interesting." Sadie jokes. We get ready together and by the time we finish it's eight and the guys are back with food. "Andrew, honey-" Sadie starts and takes his hand. She looks over at Matt. "Matt's my cousin."

Chapter 45

{Andrew's POV} "You two are related?!" I say in shock. "I just found out today too, Em told me." "So yesterday in the elevator? Last night’s goodbye kiss? This morning? Was just-" "Yes, I didn't want to shock her this morning. I actually was coming to tell her." Everything makes sense now. "Thanks for not freaking out man." He shakes my hand and we do a quick hand shake his brother taught us. "So we're practically related." I state. "Yup. Sadie's my favorite cousin." He winks. "I couldn't ask for a better guy to take care of her." He pats my back and Sadie smiles at me when she walks over with a piece of toast in her mouth. "Nice to see you two getting along so well." She giggles. She's wearing the issued training outfit. It's spandex mostly and it hugs her curves in just the right way. "Earth to Andrew." She waves her hand in front of my face. "It's almost time to go are you going to shower or not?" "Uh yeah. I-um-uh-" I sound like an idiot. "Were staring at me?" She finishes. "It's just-you can wear anything and look amazing." "Andrew!" She protests. "It's just workout clothes.”I guess I should shower now." I say. "Sadie can I braid your hair?" Em plops down on the carpet in the circle we formed. "Sure." She answers right before I close the door. I remove my clothes and put a robe on. I start the shower and look at my reflection in the mirror. My hair is everywhere and I have bags under my eyes. Honestly, I look like a zombie. I step into the shower after removing my robe. I wash the gunk out of my hair and the rest of my body. I step out and wrap a towel around my body. I brush my teeth and briefly run a comb through my hair before zipping up my training suit. I step out of the bathroom and Matt runs in and takes a five minute shower. I walk up behind Sadie and wrap my arms around her abdomen. Still behind her, I kiss the top of her head. Her abs are very toned, Sadie has always been athletic. She giggles when I spin her around and set her gently on the bed. "Andrew look what you did! I have to redo her braid!" We both laugh.
