"You know you don't deserve even his kindness" Samuel said once they started dancing

She was taken by complete shock

"Excuse me?" She asked Samuel

"I mean, he's the prince but as kids you'd convince him to sneak up to the roof with you, to what? What were you hoping for? Your parents are bother servants in the castle, at some age he'd stop that"

"I didn't convince him, he knew I liked the night so one day he asked if I'd meet him there, then every day after, then it became a routine, he could have told me no more"

"It's a good thing I told him first then isn't it" he said, a smirk rising on his face

"Told him what.." She asked getting slightly angry

"Well actually liked you, said someday he'd marry you, he liked how you saw the world. He truly does see the weakness in people, well best in people as he calls it. Good thing I was there to explain to Davis you weren't good enough" his lips twisted more than a smirk, into a dark smile

She could feel her cheeks burn, she stopped dancing and was about to say a few unladylike things but she felt a tap on her shoulder

She put on her best fake smile to turn around

When she saw who it was all her anger disappeared

"Reese!?" She exclaimed, looking in disbelief before hugging him

"Hey little sister, you look gorgeous tonight." Reese said almost laughing

"I thought you were stationed a few towns over?" She asked letting go. She adjusted her skirt

"I was, but I was requested to come by the king! Sent here right away"

"That's amazing!"

They hugged again

"Excuse me sir, prince Davis requested to see you on the patio" a guard told him

"Yes sir thank you," Reese smiled and nodded to the guard before turning back to Terrance, "would you join me?" He asked offering her an arm

She took it an nodded

"Don't let me forget to tell you what Samuel said right before you showed up" she said as they walked to the door

They walked through the door where the prince was standing

"Oh.. Hello again Terrance" the prince greeted, avoiding her eye contact

She nodded in response

"So, prince, what can I do for you?" Reese asked

"Actually? I'm not exactly sure, my father just asked me to say hello to you on the patio. An odd equestrian but doable I suppose"

"Yes, fathers seem to have their secrets" Reese smiled

Suddenly Terrance wasn't being supported by her brother's arm, she was being weighed down by it.

She instinctively looked over, a bit of panic coming up

The end half of a sword was pointing out the front of his abdomen as he fell to his knees

"Oh my god, Reese!" She exclaimed, tears welling in her eyes

He looked into her eyes as the blood ran from his chest

He pulled her closer to him

"Sun stone" he whispered in her ear, "s-sun.. Sto.." He screamed slightly of pain as the sword was pulled from his back. Both hands went to his wound as he fell the rest of the way to the ground

"No.. Reese.. " she felt his breathing stop and she kneeled for a second, staring at him in dis belief

She looked behind where her brother had been standing. Samuel? The same smirk as before was on his face as he inspected his blade

She looked to the prince, he was as shocked as she was

She stood up, turning to Samuel

"Careful doll" he said smiling

"You killed him.." She mumbled

"Yes, seems he had an interest in the sun stone. A stone talked about in magic times before the purge. Only a few know of it anymore. King had the prince bring him out here and me kill him. Problem solved" Samuel said as if it was old news

She looked at the prince

"I had no clue I swear." The prince said holding his hands up

"But now it seems you know about the stone.. Looks like I'll have to.." Samuel started but was interrupted

"No. She lives. Be gone Samuel." The prince said

"But sir.."

"NOW" the prince insisted

Samuel shrugged and walked away

She had been glaring at the prince

"I promise I didn't.." He started before she turned and started walking away

He reached out and grabbed her arm

"Listen, I would never have let that happen if I knew!"

"But you take the king at his word. You look the other way when he commits unspeakable sins." She stated simply

"Please Terrance.. Don't leave, let's talk."

"What's to talk about. She asked rhetorically without turning around

"I'll change, I've always loved you." The prince pleaded

She looked over her shoulder, expressionless,

"Like I said, what's there to talk about?" She asked before ripping her arm out of his grasp.

She walked away from the party, not going through the castle. She walked until she was out of sight,

She saw a horse tied up in front of a store, she untied the horse and took off with on it.
