*Chapter Twenty-Nine*

"Hey, you've reached Luke. Leave a message or whatever although I probably won't call back unless you're actually important."

Beep.

"Luke," I said, "call me please. I don't know where you are and I just...I just want to know that you're okay. I—"

Beep.

I sighed. Five days. That how much longer we have until the formal. And to say I was stressing out was a major understatement. It's not like I don't think Luke won't be back—I know he will—but I just don't like doing things last minute if I can avoid it. And just to top everything off, I haven't heard from him in what feels like ages and I'm just worried.

I threw my phone back onto my bed and sighed. I grabbed my casual attire and dressed myself for school. There's only about a week and a half left of school and I don't know whether to be relieved and ecstatic or totally freaked out of my mind. Hopefully the former but I know it's probably going to be the latter. I decided that I didn't feel like indulging in my usual breakfast so I grabbed my keys and headed over to the nearest cafe. I was ahead of schedule for once so I thought I might as well. I ordered an iced coffee and a ham and cheese melted croissant thing. I don't know, it sounded good. I had half an hour before school started so I sat there and ate, probably looking really lonely but whatever.

Once I had finished my breakfast, I hopped into my car and drove to school. I grabbed my binder that was sitting in the passenger seat and headed towards where my friends were sat. The last couple of weeks had been intense; assignments and test were thrown at us although I'm pretty sure that we only had one more exam left.

"Hey, what time is the formal on Wednesday again?" Parker asked.

I rested my chin on my hand as he looked at me expectantly. I shrugged. "Is it like six or something?"

"Oh my god." Eleanor said, "Photos are at six-thirty and then we head to the pub venue thingy for dinner where people get up and talk about high school and then we do the dancing and stuff."

I turned back to Parker, "So it's at half past six. But wait, our formal is at a pub?" I laughed, "Classy."

"It's more of an RSL type thing." Eleanor clarified.

"Still," I said. "It's basically a pub."

"Yeah," Eleanor agreed, "pretty much."

"We're still doing the spa thing, right?" I asked.

Eleanor nodded, "Yep."

"I invited Georgia." I told her.

"Georgia as in Shawn's sister?"

"That's the one." I nodded.

"Hello?" I said once I had picked up a call that was from Hayden. I hadn't removed him from my contacts yet even though I told myself that I was going to soon. I was diving to Parker's house because Beth had to pick something up. School had just ended for the week and Beth was sleeping over at my house. We had been lounging about my house when she remembered that she had to get something from Parker so we jumped into my car and headed towards his house. And before you say that I shouldn't be on the phone while driving—I wasn't—I had my phone connected to Bluetooth thus my call being connected to the car speaker. And thus Beth being able to hear everything.

"Hey, how've you been?" He asked.

Beth threw me a look of bewilderment. "Uh, yeah, good, you?"
