Movie Marathon

I woke up the next morning feeling extremely refreshed. I sat up in bed and stretched with a big smile on my face. It was time to do some pranking... I slowly tiptoed out of my room and looked down the hallway and saw that no one was up yet. Perfect. I slowly made my way down to the kitchen.

To be honest, I wasn't sure what I was going to do yet but the moment I saw the mass of recycled newspapers I knew. I grabbed the whole bucket and a big role of tape. I looked around for anything that might be a better prank, but couldn't find anything. Smiling evilly to myself, I slowly made my way back up the stairs and stopped in front of Dakota's door.

"Payback, baby." I said singing a little to myself. I even added a little dance before actually starting.

I took a piece of the newspaper and started taping it to another until it would reach across her door. When it looked about the right size I tested it to see if it did fit the length of her door. It was a perfect fit. I taped it up, then made another. I couldn't stop smiling as I did it. That is until I heard the floor creak behind me.

"What are you doing?" asked Kelly. I froze in my spot. It was the most awkward time to get caught.

Slowly, I turned around to look at her. I tried giving her an innocent smile but she didn't fall for it. I looked from Kelly to the newspaper I had already taped up and couldn't think of an excuse.

"It was payback for teasing me about Devin." I said falling back onto the floor. Kelly tried not to laugh.

"I guess my door was next?" I nodded and she laughed.

For a second I just laughed with her. Then I stood up and gathered the newspaper that hadn't been taped up. The prank was going to happen, if not now then later. Next time I would have to wake up earlier to be ready. Kelly followed me down the stairs and into the kitchen as I put the bucket of newspaper back down by the counter and turned to look at her.

"So you and Craig?" I said grabbing a soda out of the fridge. I wasn't looking at her, but I knew she was smiling.

"Yeah, it's great isn't it?" I shrugged.

"You wanted a sample of a summer romance." I joked. She just laughed and took a seat on the couch.

"Are you going to see him today?" I asked flipping the TV on. She shrugged.

"I gave him my number. I guess we will see." she said wiggling her eyebrows. I laughed and so did she.

"Why is everyone up so early?" asked a tired Dakota coming down the stairs. I shrugged.

"I was in a good mood." I said crossing my arms. "Until my prank got ruined."

Kelly laughed and pushed my arm lightly. "I woke up after hearing her in the hall." My mouth dropped when I heard this.

"That's a lie! I moved with the stealth of a ninja!" they both just looked over at me then each other and laughed. After a second Dakota sat down with us.

"Okay, quiet down it's still early." she said rubbing her temples. I sighed and crawled off of the couch and over to the shelf of movies.

"Well as long as we're down here, let's start the movie marathon!" I said doing a little dance and shooting my friends a smile.

No sooner than I said that did Kelly's phone start ringing. She seemed to jump off of the couch with excitement, and she ran into the kitchen to take it.

"Craig." said Dakota guessing who it was. I nodded.

"Craig." I confirming it. Kelly did to.

"Hey, Craig." she said talking into the phone.

I toned out of the conversation and continued looking for a movie to watch. Dakota got up to grab an apple before coming to join me.

"Your dad has a lot of movies." said Dakota looking over all the names. I smiled.

"And this isn't even all of them." I said smiling to myself.

"Yeah sure." said Kelly excitedly behind us. I turned to look at her for a second before picking a movie.

"Why Twilight?" asked Dakota raising an eyebrow at me. I shrugged.

"Revenge is sweet." so the prank didn't work out, but making them sit through a movie they hated may have been even better.

"Guys, don't start the movie yet. Craig and Devin are coming over." I grunted and fell onto my back.

"Why? I thought this would be a girls day?" I whined. Dakota patted my stomach and laughed.

"It will be fun." Dakota promised me.

She lied.
