Once upon a fan flippity tastic time (didn't see that one coming did you) there was a young boy named Gon. He had a brother (?) named Ging. The two of them lived with their Uncle Chrollo. Gon never went to school unlike Ging. Chrollo was very disappointed. In Ging. Gon was such a kind and energetic boy while Ging was a jerk and all angsty. This is why you don't send your kids to school. Although school has many harmful side effects it also had some things good about it. There was one thing good about it. Ging was actually kind of smart. Kind of because we don't want to push it. Because Ging had a little bit of knowledge up in his brain he was able to be part of the most refine smart group of people the world had to offer. The Phantom Troupe. You could tell they were smart because they had tattoos. Except Ging because he didn't know how to.
For the last couple of years Ging had been pushing Gon to join the Phantom Troupe because it would be good for him. No wait that was Uncle Chrollo. Just kidding. For the last couple years Uncle Chrollo had been pushing Gon to join the Phantom Troupe because it would be good for him, but Gon didn't want to. Gon thought people with tattoos were stupid. Instead of joining the Phantom Troupe Gon got into illegal street fights. Well actually there are like two laws in the Hunter World and that is not one of them. So Gon wasn't doing anything illegal, but he was hanging with some risky people. Gon spent all of his time fighting at different arenas. So now it is time to get to the actual story.
Gon walked into the familiar Heaven's Arena. Gon knew his next opponent was going to be easy. His name was Kastro and he acted like he went to school except he was stupid. Gon stepped into the ring. With the money he could win with this fight he could buy a present for his trainer Bisky. She had worked him really hard and made him the best unknown street fighter in all the surrounding cities. So Gon thought that he should buy her something nice for that. The match started like all the others. He faked being hurt a few times, and then he would let out about 15% of his current potential and would totally dominate everything. This match ended like all the rest. Kastro fell over unconscious. Gon went over to collect his money, but a very angry man called the Bomber had betted on Kastro and wasn't about to hand over his money. "You little punk! I'm going to crush your windpipe!" The Bomber shouted. "Aw snap." Gon replied.
Then almost on cue Uncle Chrollo zoomed out of the elevator on a motorcycle. "Gon, get on!" Uncle Chrollo who was so much cooler than Ging said. Gon scurried off and got on the motorcycle with Chrollo. They slowly and carefully reversed back into the elevator and hit the close door button. They sat on the motorcycle inside the elevator waiting for the elevator to reach the bottom floor. "You really need to cut this out Gon. I don't know who taught you to pretend to get beaten up before you actually started to kick it in, but that is one fast way to make money. Although you could make money a lot faster if you joined the Phantom Troupe. You only make pocket change at these street fights." Chrollo lectured.
Then the elevator doors open, but not on their floor. A guy with a wheelchair that had monster truck wheels stood on the other side of the doors hoping he could get in. Chrollo just glared at him. "I'll wait for the next one." The man said. "Yeah, you better," Chrollo threatened. The elevator doors shut and they continued on their decent. "So like I was saying, it was a great idea to get training with Bisky, but people won't respect you unless you join the Troupe like your father... I mean brother." Chrollo continued. Then the elevator doors opened again. "WHAT IS IT THIS TIME!" Chrollo shouted. "We're on our floor." Gon said pointing to the floor buttons that are on elevators. "Oh," Chrollo said. He began to drive his motorcycle quickly out of Heaven's Arena.
"Okay can you drop me off at my next fight? It is supposed to be at a place called Greed Island." Gon politely asked. "NO! You need to spend some brother bonding time with your brother. Your brother is kind of a loser so whip him into shape for me okay?" Chrollo demanded. "Fine, don't tell me he's at..." Gon sighed. "You betcha, he's at the Troupe's Base." Chrollo smiled. Maybe if he could get Gon inside the base he would see how cool the Phantom Troupe was and want to join. After Uncle Chrollo dropped Gon off at the Troupe's lair, he head back to his humble little bakery where he sold muffins. He had to work extra hard these days because there was a new bakery in town that sold doughnuts. The place was called Kurapika's Doughnuts. Uncle Chrollo knew if he didn't work hard enough he would go out of business despite the fact that Chrollo sold muffins and the other bakery sold doughnuts.
