❝She loved him endlessly

But he couldn't love her back enough❞

I remembered it all started on a autumn night. The air was crisp and cold, the cool air sending shivers up my spine. He'd asked me to meet up with him at our favourite spot by the river. We'd been together for 2 years already, and I loved him unconditionally. 

He was sitting there, by the river. His blonde hair was slicked back and he wore a white shirt, with faded blue ripped jeans. What did you want to meet me for, I had texted him. Just come over, was his short reply. 

I didn't question him-I trusted him enough to know that it was important. So I didn't argue. 

Hey, I said. He looked up at me, his icy blue eyes boring into my chocolate brown eyes, devoid of any sort of emotion. 

He got up from his spot on the grass. The river side was entirely empty and the street lights made his ice-cold blue eyes seem gold. 

At that moment, I just felt a sinking dread in my chest. I may have known this was coming for a while. There were hints, here and there. 

Audrey, he had said my name softly. 

 Don't, I said. Just don't. 

I'm sorry. He said. I'm leaving for Japan tomorrow, and you know it'll never work out. I'll be overseas for 5 years. 

I'd just stood there, stunned. I didn't know what to say. 

He pressed a kiss to my forehead, and stayed there for a minute. Forgive me, he said.

He walked away, silently and soundly. Yet my heart was breaking, cracking at the edges, sounding so loud in the echoing silence. As he walked away from me, he walked out of my life. I felt the tears streaming down my cheeks, flowing faster than a running tap. I didn't brush them aside. I welcomed them, and sank to the ground, my sobs getting louder and louder. 

It was then that did reality sink in, and I felt broken. There was nothing more than hurt there and then. 

It was also then that I'd sworn to myself, I'd never fall in love again.
