"Good. Now, what are we gonna take a picture of?"

"Well-"

"I know! We can make a campfire scene with a couple adults talking, a couple of kids making s'mores, and fireflies everywhere. That'd be amazing!" For the first time in this story, Johnny let a smile sneak onto her face. It absolutely took Jen's breath away.

"Wow Johnny, you have a real pretty smile." Johnny instantly went back to scowling.

"N-no I don't! What would you know anyways, Harlow?!" Jen pouted and looked down at her twiddling thumbs.

"I guess I wouldn't know anything. After all, I'm just a druggie ain't I?" Jen bit her lip and turned away to grab her notebook and a pencil.

"I- Jen, I'm sorry. It's just- that's a touchy subject." Jen turned back when she had fished her notebook and pencil from her bag.

"No, it's okay. I'm sorry. I was outta line."

"It's alright. You didn't know." The two were silent for a long moment.

"So, I guess we gotta draw out our scene first, huh?"

"Uh, yeah. Um, how about, you draw your idea, and I draw mine. Then, we can see which one we like better, or, maybe mix the two."

"Sounds like a great idea."

"Of course it does. It's mine." Johnny smirked.

"Hehe, of course your royal highness."

"Damn straight." The two giggled and Jen admired Johnny's laugh so much, it shone through the glaze in her eyes. Johnny noticed and returned to her scowl once again. "Let's get to work." Jen's smile dropped and she opened her sketchbook as Johnny reached to get her's.

Five minutes before the end of class, Johnny turned to Jen and asked to look at her work. "Okay, good. Next one." Jen rubbed the back of her neck.

"I don't really want to show you the next one."

"Oh, come on, I'm sure it's not that bad."

"I know it's not bad, I just don't want to show you it. I got a little off track after this one." Johnny huffed.

"Alright, fine. Here's my work." Jen critically looked at Johnny's work as she showed it to her.

"Okay, this is a very good idea, but I would refrain from putting too much light in one place. We shouldn't put anything in front of the fire, and, maybe we shouldn't include the moon. It doesn't look realistic. Uh, next." Johnny turned to the next page. "Aw. That's a nice idea. A serenade on the river. The moon is actually good in this one, but again, no one on the bridge. Next." Johnny turned the page. "A, night picnic? You really like the night don't you? I like it, but I don't think many others would."

"Right, well, let's meet after school to work on this."

"Sounds good." The two girls gathered their stuff.

"Uh, let's exchange phone numbers, so we can talk about the project."

"Right." The girls exchanged numbers just before the bell rang and parted ways.
