I Need to Tell You Something...

Part 14

Sorry it has taken me so long to update! Hope you all are having a great start to the New Year! I haven't, sadly. Three of my barn cats were killed this morning by dogs (just random country strays (we think)) that broke into our barn. So my cats Belle, Megara, and Hershey paid the price of the dogs' stupidity. Yeah.

The following days were both happy and stressful. James had started to slowly gain weight, but Bucky had been having nightmares. You had been in the living room of your and Bucky's floor, sitting on a couch and holding James as he took a nap. You heard a sound from the direction of the elevator and saw the doors open. Natasha stepped out and headed over to you. You slowly stood up and headed towards the nursery.

"I'll be right back. Make yourself at home." You whispered to Natasha. She nodded her head and sat down. A few minutes later you came back out of the nursery.

"So, (Y\N), what have you been up to today?" You laughed.

"You saw what I've been doing when you came in! I've been sitting here almost all day watching James sleep. It makes me happy to just be able to calmly sit here and hold him." Nat nodded her head.

"Where is Bucky?" You sighed and looked down at your hands.

"He's with Steve. Steve has been taking him to his sessions with a psychiatrist that works for S.H.I.E.L.D. He has been having nightmares. They seem to be getting worse each night. He's also starting to act nervous around me. He thinks that he is going to hurt me with his arm on accident. He is afraid to even sit next to me. We sleep in separate beds since he thinks that he is going to lash out at me during the night. I try to tell him that he won't hurt me, but he won't believe me. I mean, you saw how he was around James when he first saw him. Now, he won't touch him. Oh, Natasha, it's breaking my heart to see him like this! He has never acted this way before!" Natasha gave you a reassuring smile.

"Bucky is a strong man. He will be better before you know it. I'll tell you what, (Y\N), I'll stay here with the baby. You go down and socialize. You've been here all day. Go have some fun." You gave Natasha a hug.

"Thank you, Nat. I'll be back in an hour. If anything happens, have Jarvis tell me." Natasha laughed.

"(Y\N), we'll be fine. Go before I change my mind!" You smile and head towards the elevator.

"If he needs a bottle, everything is in the top right cabinet over the sink in the kitchen." You tried to put in hastily as you stood in the elevator, but the doors closed before you could finish the thought. As the elevator took you down to the shared living space, you sighed a sigh of relief. It would be good to calmly talk to your friends. At least, that's what you thought was gonna happen. Haha!

When the doors of the elevator opened, you saw chaos. Thor was yelling at the toaster, Clint was sitting on top of the fridge, Tony was flying around cleaning what appeared to be egg off of the ceiling, and Bruce had locked himself in the bathroom to calm himself down.

"What happened?!" You yelled over Thor yelling at the toaster. The room became quiet.

"(Y\N)!" Yelled Thor, Clint, and Tony excitedly.

"We were trying to make a sweet treat to bestow upon you, Lady (Y\N). The plan did not go as expected." Said Thor.

"You can say that again! We were trying to make you chocolate chip cookies that we could bring up to you and James, but everything got out of control, and we decided to make you toast. That failed also." Said Clint.

"Barnes, tell Banner that he can come out." You walked over to the bathroom door and knocked on it.

"Bruce, you can come out now." He hesitantly opened the door.

"Are you sure?" You nodded your head and he came out. Tony flew down from the ceiling and came over to were you and Bruce were standing.

"What caused you to grace us with your presents, Barnes?" Asked Tony as the suit disassembled and flew away to various corners of the room.

"And were is Nat?" Asked Clint as he tried to get down from on top of the fridge.

"Natasha told me I needed to socialize. She is watching James for me right now. Sounds like you aren't very happy to see me, Stark."

"You just haven't come down at all today. Thor thought you were mad at us. Don't ask him if that's what he said or not. Take my word for it. The big guy was heartbroken." Tony paused for a moment, trying to think of a way to change the subject. You then heard the sound of the elevator. You turned toward it, hoping that it was Steve and Bucky, but it wasn't. It was Natasha who was holding James. You ran over to her, your arms outstretched so you could take James.

"Natasha, what happened? Is James ok? Are you ok?" You repeatedly asked her questions as she handed you James.

"We are fine, (Y\N). I felt a little hungry, and James woke up, so I thought we could go on a field trip. Also, I was guessing that the boys would all like to see the baby again since you have been keeping him hidden. I felt he could use a little more attention, so I, his auntie Natasha, decided to bring him down from his ivory tower." You laughed and smiled down at James who was sucking on his thumb.

"I wanna hold him!" Said Clint, running over to were you all stood. He had finally gotten down from the atop of the fridge.

"May I hold the small midgardian?" asked Thor. Clint glared at him.

"I asked first, Thor! Go finish cleaning up the kitchen." You laughed as Thor summoned Mjolnir and held it close to Clint's face.

"Would you like to repeat yourself, bird man?" Clint shook his head, wide-eyed.

"Thor, of course you can hold James. Everyone can hold James."

"I can't." You turned around to see Bucky quietly staring at the floor. Steve stood next to him. They had both apparently come up when Thor and Clint were arguing.

"Oh, Buck! You're back! How did it go?" You asked him walking over to give him a hug. He jumped away from you and looked up at you with a sad expression.

"Don't touch me. I'm a monster."
