No way.

I couldn't feel my heart beat had it given up on me already? Doomed to face this situation all by myself.

Puberty, you suck. So. Hard.

Immediately, I placed my hands on either sides of her head which made Riley's eyes widen even more.

No! That's not what I'm doing!

Feeling the blood rush up to my cheeks, warming up them up from acute and possible frostbite. I mustered up all my strength and pushed myself off her.

We both laid next to each other on her carpet, suffering slight trauma from the events that had unravelled about... 15 seconds ago.

Pursing my lips, an unsettling tension fell upon us as none of us had the courage to talk about what had just happened.

"Hey, Riley-" Auggie burst through the door.

After taking one glance, he immediately lets go of the doorknob, raising both his hands in the air and walked away.

Riley shot up, "Auggie! It's not what it looks like!" She yelled.

I too, sat up and played with my thumbs.

What should I say? What if I pretended that never happened.

"So... Farkle. What did you come over for?" Riley started off, trying to ease the tension between us.

Okay, I'll just follow her lead and pretend, nothing happened.

"Well, I don't really think it's important, right now..." I said.

"Why not?" She tilted her head in confusion.

"Because... Oh look-" I glanced down at my imaginary watch, "it's dinner time, gotta go!"

Genius, Farkle!

"It's 5.00 pm"

Idiot, Farkle!

I could feel sweat drop off from the side of my face as I tried my best to lie my way out. But the again, it couldn't have been icicles defrosting from my hair...

"Well what can I say? The early bird catches the worm!" I cried out in panic, diving out of her window and making my way down the fire escape.

As I reached the ground, I couldn't help but graze my fingers across my lips in amazement, "Woah." I uttered out.

Riley's POV

I walked to school with Maya, still thinking about yesterday. Farkle and I kissed...

What should I do now-

"Hey, Riles? Speaking of which, have you heard that Dr. Farkle has been shot by Cupid's bow?"

My eyes widened in shock, a slight tinge of pain ran across my chest a I stopped walking.

"What? That's impossible... He just broke up with Smackle..." I tried fighting against her statement, hoping she would agree with me.

"Yeah, but Lucas told me everything over text. He said that he had a crush on a girl and started babbling on about some plan." Maya said, her face in deep thought recalling it.

"Art of seduction, eh? Who would've thought Farkle Minkus could be such a vixen?" Maya added in, chuckling.

Ugh.

I couldn't help but dig my nail into the heel of my palm, feeling annoyed and disgusted.

"Oh." I uttered out.

"Hey Maya! Hey Riley!" We whipped our head around, facing Lucas and Farkle.

As I looked at him, I couldn't help but feel as if I were looking into the eyes of a traitor.

"Hello, Lucas." I smiled at Lucas, "Farkle." I greeted coldly.

His smile was knocked off his face as he looked at me in confusion. I squinted my eyes at him, trying my best to glare.

Lucas pursed his lips, glancing over at Maya as if he were looking for an answer.

At the corner of my eye, I saw Maya shrug. I cleared my throat, "Why don't we head to school..." I broke my eye contact with him and walked ahead.

"Maya?" Farkle queried.

"I don't even know..." Maya replied, before running ahead and walking by my side.

What scared me the most was when I realised, I might have a crush on Farkle.
