*SIERRA*

The first day of school is always exciting, especially when it's your first day of school as a senior. It sucks that my parents decided to move before I graduated, but I'm open to the change because I've always wanted to know what Florida is like, hopefully I'll only be here for a year and then I'll go back to New York to attend the same college as my sister, Maria.

When my alarm clock went off for the first time in about two months, I couldn't help but make very unattractive groaning noises, my bed is so warm, my covers are so soft, I don't wanna get up. After hitting snooze on my alarm about 3 times I finally managed to get myself out of bed and into the shower. I didn't feel the usual fear that comes with being "the new kid" because on the first day of school it's sort of like everyone is new.

Once I was all dry and my hair was washed and detangled I got dressed, deciding to wear a black and white baseball T with a pair of maroon skinny jeans and black high top converse. I pulled the top section of my curly brown hair into a high ponytail and let the rest fall freely.

As soon as I got downstairs I went to check on my sister, she was still asleep in her tiny little pink bed, her arm hanging off one side. She sleeps like a cave man. Next I stopped at my parents's room. I saw that the light was on inside so I decided to just make something to eat and let whoever was driving me to school come out on their own. I toasted my bagel to a perfect crisp and smoothed on a thick layer of cream cheese... I like cream cheese.

"Good morning Sierra." My dad greeted me, dressed in his work clothes.

"Morning dad. Are you taking me to school?" I asked.

"Yeah, are you ready?"

"Mhmm." I nodded, feeling suddenly nervous. "As ready as I'll ever be." I confessed.

"Good, then lets go." He smiled.

I pulled one strap of my backpack onto my shoulder and followed my dad out the door. As he drove I payed attention to what turns and streets he took. I live close enough to school to walk, so I'll need to learn the way eventually.

"You don't seem nervous." My dad told me, turning down the car radio.

"Eh, I am a little. But I'm mostly excited...I think."

"Haha. You think?"

I laughed and nodded. "Yeah. I THINK."

"Oh you'll be just fine." He chuckled before adding "I think."

"Thanks dad." I laughed and rolled my eyes.

When we parked outside the front office I couldn't help but notice how beautiful the school was. It was big but not too big, and modern, but not too modern. I think I could like it here.
