As Brandon was promising not to share our secret Kirsten was getting Harper from her nap. She walked down the hallway to the living room where Ryan & I were. Ryan held out his arms for her as she said "Ryan."
Ryan "Harper."
Harper "Ryan wing."
Ryan "Yes I got married like mommy & daddy did."
Harper "Wing." Looking at my finger.
I said "Yes that's right. Uncle Ryan gave me that ring."
Kirsten "She is expanding her vocabulary."
I said "I can see that. She is so adorable."
Kirsten "Would the two of you be willing to babysit tomorrow?"
I said "I'd love to."
Ryan "Of course I'd be willing to."
Brandon "We need a babysitter for two and a half days."
Ryan "No need to ask or explain."
Kirsten "Good. She likes both of you these days & actually asked for you to babysit."
Ryan "Of course I will babysit you Harper."
I said "I will babysit any child."
Ryan "I know you would. This will be good for you. Since we are gonna have our own baby."
Harper heard Ryan "Ryan baby?"
Ryan "Yes I am going to be a daddy soon."
I said "She is so cute. So sweet too."
Kirsten "She's my little bug bug. I love her so much."
After visiting we went home and Harper told Kirsten and Brandon she wanted to see us again right away.
Kirsten "In the morning sweetie. When mommy & daddy go away for a couple of days. Then you'll see Uncle Ryan and Auntie Nikki."
Harper "Mama bye bye."
Kirsten (to Brandon) "Can you believe how excited she is to see us go?"
Brandon "She will miss us. She's just excited about them being back home."
Kirsten "I hope so."
The next morning Brandon and Kirsten brought Harper's things to our house. Kirsten kissed her daughter "Bye be good. Mommy loves you."
Brandon hugged her "Daddy loves you too. Bye bug."
As they left she waved goodbye.
Ryan was holding her "So what does Harper want to do today?"
Harper "Melmo."
Ryan "How did I know you'd say that."
Harper "Melmo Melmo."
Ryan "Okay we will go watch Melmo."
(Melmo is Elmo)
I turned on Elmo's world and she just clapped and said "Melmo!"
Her face lit up as we played the DVD.
I said "Harper do you want my baby to be a girl or a boy?"
Harper "Girl."
Ryan "So I can have my own little princess?"
Harper "Ya."
Ryan "Even after I have my baby you're still my bug okay?"
Harper "Ya."
Later that day we fed her lunch which consisted of Mac and cheese applesauce and a hot dog. After lunch we all got some stuff together to go to the park.
We took turns going on the slide with her and pushing her on the swing. The other took photos for Instagram. Kirsten & Brandon saw them and commented "Well someone is having fun. So is Harper."
That night she had a little trouble going to sleep so I read a story first. Second he tried to play a video of her parents. Third I sang a song by Plumb that helped her be soothed. I was surprised and so was Ryan that it helped.
Ryan "You're going to be an excellent mother."
I said "Just because I sang our friends daughter to sleep?"
Ryan "Everything you did today shows me you'll be a good mom."
In the morning we woke up to see that Harper was awake and screaming.
Ryan picked her up and said "What do you want to do today?"
Harper cried "Mommy."
Ryan "Mommy went bye bye for a couple of days remember?"
Harper "Mommy."
Ryan "I think Nikki has some food for you."
Harper screamed and cried until she saw what it was. It was special Elmo shaped pancakes.
Harper (less sad) "Melmo."
I whispered to Ryan "I had a feeling that might help."
Ryan "I love you baby."
He kissed my cheek and sat down to make sure Harper didn't choke on her pancakes.
My phone buzzed and it was Kirsten "How is my little bug?"
I replied "She had a freak out this morning missing you until she saw that I made Elmo shaped pancakes. I swear that child is obsessed."
Kirsten "I don't think you'd be wrong."
I replied "We are figuring out what else to do today."
Kirsten "Just keep us posted. Post pics and videos."
I replied "Of course we will. You two have fun."
Kirsten "Thanks we have so far."
Later that morning we took Harper to the beach using sunscreen & her cute little suit.
I had a black and blue bikini which made Ryan feel a tad bit dirty.
Ryan kissed my cheek as I was playing in the sand with Harper.
Ryan "I love you!"
I said "I love you too!"
Harper hugged us both with her cute little arms.
