Chapter 20

 

I slammed my computer shut and I could control my emotions and the tears started pouring down my face. It felt like my lungs were being squeezed as I gasped for air and it hurt when I was able to get some air in my lungs. How could he say that about me, he knew the reason, he agreed it was best to wait until we could be together with my father being okay with it. My head was spinning, he said he loved me that I was the first girl he ever loved and wanted to spend his whole life with me.

 

"I'm sorry Jane, I know you loved him but..." I heard Tiffany say in the phone I had all but forgotten she was on the phone with me

 

"Why would he do this to me?" I said blubbering trying to get control

 

"he wants your father's power, I tried protecting you when I found out, but you were so head over heels for him nothing I said could get through to you" I started sobbing more as a new wave of pain washed over me, at the realization of how I acted toward my friends because of him, how I treated everyone

 

"Oh gosh Tiffany I'm so sorry I didn't believe you about him, please forgive me" I said sobbing begging for forgiveness

 

"Jane it's fine everyone of us would have acted the same I know you loved him and I don't hold it against you" she said sounding like she was on the verge of tears

 

"I feel so stupid I let this happen I should have never believed a word that monster said" I said clenching my knee to my chest

 

"just relax Jane I understand, try to calm down if River comes in and sees you like this it's only going to anger him and David will be in more danger than he is now, and you still have feelings for him and that will only make you hurt more" she said as the realization dawned on me

 

"What river told me was true, I accused him of lying to me, and gosh I feel so horrible" I said as a fresh new tears started running down my face

 

"yeah, he was really angry once he figured out what David did, he looked so scary I mean you dads a vicious man when he has to be and I never want to be on his bad side, but the look on rivers face was..." she paused "let's just say David's a lucky bastard there was a crowd of people around and he has some superpower of control because David would be dead now" she said

 

"I wish he had killed him, my father would have given him a medal probably, and I said and chuckled a little

 

"see there you laughed, laughter is the best thing for you, just finished getting ready and don't let river see you cry, he seems very protective of you and him knowing you're this upset will only fuel his hatred for David" she said as I nodded looking at the clock realizing it was getting close to the time we need to leave

 

"Okay I need to put some makeup on and hide the fact I've cried, so I'll see you at school" I said

 

"We are all going and will be there to help you, it's going to be a long day and you need all the support you can get"
