17. Follow Me

The next day,I woke up early to find Lisa already up, just sitting on her bed, staring at her feet

"Um..what are you doing?" I asked standing up 

She looked up, almost surprised-and then smiled

"I just...I don't know. I couldn't fall back asleep."

"Why did you wake up in the first place?"

She shrugged and mumbled "I just have a lot on my mind, you know. In two weeks from now, the ratings will be up"

"Yeah I know." 

"I will be the last." she said looking down

"Shut up, " I said, rolling my eyes

"What? I am bad at everything."

"No you're not, and you know it. Stop intimidating yourself. You'll do great."

She just sighed and stood up

"I'm hungry." she stated and started changing 

I rolled my eyes and copied her actions, taking off my black T-shirt and throwing it on my bed, changing into a black long-sleeve top and a pair of skinny jeans

Since my hair was already in a ponytail, I just tightened it on top of my head and wore my shoes and jacket

When we were ready, Dave woke up and quickly followed us to the cafeteria

Us three sat down and ate our food in silence until the rest of the initiates came

We talked about being both scared and excited about the ratings-even though we wouldn't see them till the 'Dauntless Day'

Max said that the Dauntless day usually is celebrated with just the members and initiates gathering up and fighting at the Pit, but this year it had been decided that there would be an actual 'party'

I didn't even know what a party really was-we never had them in Amity

Once we were finished, we headed to the Gym

We practiced some fighting with Four and then started practicing our knife throwing with Eric

I didn't even know why I had asked for his help

Abbey let out a loud groan of frustration as she threw the knife, hitting the wall next to the target's head

"This is bullshit.." she mumbled, taking another knife

I chuckled and aimed

Breathing out slowly, I threw the knife and it hit the stomach

"Good. But you should actually hold the knife right. That way you'll make sure you don't miss. Try again" Eric said

I did, and it hit the chest

"Alright. Since your fellow initiate here, has gotten the handle of this, let's make it a little harder for her to show off." He said 

I turned around to look at him, raising an eyebrow as he smirked

"You gotta be quick." he stated and without a warning, he threw a knife at me

I caught it and aimed

"You call this, quick? Go!" he yelled

I cringed quietly and threw it without focusing

It hit the wall

I hear laughs around me as I turned to grab the next knife

"Go" 

With quick movements, I narrowed my eyes, aiming at the target's neck, and threw it

It hit the shoulder

Another one

"Go!"

Chest

I smiled to myself, turning to look at Eric

He just grabbed another one, this time coming closer, handing it to me

I extended my hand to get it, but he didn't let go

"Trying to impress me, Amity?" he asked

I chuckled

"Maybe I am" I stated

"Hm" was all he said before letting go of the knife and motioning for me to continue as he turned his back at us, walking away

I turned back to the target and continued throwing

"How are you so good at aiming?" Lisa asked while rolling her eyes with a smile as we gathered up, ready to leave

"Let's go to the Pit tonight." Jocelyn said and we all agreed

"Yes. I need some fun after this." Dave said making Lisa laugh

I nodded

"Let's go back to the dorm and change"

We started walking to the door, but a voice made us stop

"Amity"

I turned around 

"Yes?" I asked as Eric came towards us

He motioned for me to follow him

Once we were some feet away from the others, he crossed his arms in front of his chest 

"So?" I asked

"I thought about it."

I bit my lip "And?"

"I will you help you." he said, looking at the wall behind me with no emotion on his face

"Wait, really?" I asked

I thought he would say no eventually

"If you mess up, I'll throw with the Factionless." he said looking at me

I raised my hands up in my defense

"I will make sure I won't then." I stated

"Then follow me."

"We are starting now?" I asked, glancing at the people waiting for me

"Why do you have somewhere more important to be?" he asked raising an eyebrow

I quickly shook my head

"No. Not at all." I stated and turned to look at the others

"Go. I will come later" I said

Once everybody had left, I followed Eric out
