6. Confident

Me and all the members and initiates of Dauntless, stood up to leave right after Marcus had said the last name

We took the stairs and as soon as we got out, we started running

Running was the only thing I knew how to do well

I always loved running

The crowd filled with happy whistling sounds and waves of laughter as we all run, passing some people that were casually walking down the street

And then we reached it on time

The train

I had always admired how quickly the Dauntless members would climb and get on the train

It fascinated me

One right after the other, we climbed and hopped on the train

I couldn't help the constant grin that was plastered on my lips the whole time

I was on the train, after all

I looked at the scenery around me

There weren't a lot of transfers, but I actually knew someone

A girl from Amity, Lisa

I smiled at her and walked to where she was

"Hey," 

She just smiled back and sighed

"Nervous, huh?" I asked with a laugh

"It feels as if the butterflies in my stomach are intending on suffocating me to death," she breathed and I chuckled at her tone

"That's a really specific explanation," I said and silence fell between us

"My parents hate me," she suddenly said

"What?" 

Her eyes were watering but she wasn't letting the tears fall

"When I turned to look at them... my father said that I shouldn't have chosen Dauntless."

"Look... He was probably just upset you wouldn't be there with them after this. I'm sure." I mumbled

She shook her head

"Try to make him proud by just doing your best with your new life, Lisa"

She smiled "I'll try. Thanks, Sara."

 I chuckled and we felt the train slow down

And then, some of the members that were in the train started jumping off

"What are they doing?" I asked, excitement evident in my voice

"Jumping off, of course." said a boy my age, born Dauntless

He was dressed in the usual black Dauntless attire and had light brown hair and green eyes

He looked at us with a smirk

"We don't have many people transferring from Amity. Especially girls. I think you're the first two I have come across" he said

"Well, there's a first time for everything," I said with a laugh

"I'm Bill," he said as a friend of his jumped off and dragged Bill with him

"See you on the other side!" he shouted

"This is great!" I exclaimed with a laugh

"Come on, let's go!" I said to Lisa

She raised an eyebrow

"I always knew you belonged in Dauntless, you were too brave to be Amity," she said sarcastically with a nervous smile

"You chose Dauntless. That means you have the courage to do something, Lisa. Come on" I said and chuckled at the end as I realized only us transfers had stayed on the train 

"Alright.," she said and took a deep breath, as she ran and jumped off the train, not caring to wait for me

With a pleased smile, I turned to the others and said "Come On!" with a laugh as I, myself ran and jumped off

I landed on my feet but failed miserably to keep my balance and fell down, still laughing

After some seconds, all the transfers had jumped off and landed next to us

I looked at Lisa as she smiled and said "That ended up well."

I side smiled, stood up and helped her up

"Alright-gather around, you all!" said a voice

We all turned to see who it was

A guy dressed in total black jumped steadily on the ledge in front of us with a smirk on his face

We all move closer to him to hear what he had to say

Muscular, with light brown hair that was shaved at the sides and cold blue eyes

He had piercings on his face and tattoos that went up to his neck

"My name's Eric, I am a Dauntless leader. As you all know, Dauntless is a faction that values courage and bravery. Well, who is brave enough to do something crazy, like jump off this ledge?" he asked with a smirk 

"You mean-"

"I mean, if you're not even capable of doing something so simple, you won't even make it to your second day here," he said, cutting the Erudite boy off

"So.. who will it be?" he asked and jumped down on his feet, looking at all of the transfers

"You?" he asked the boy from earlier

Not waiting for an answer, he shook his own head and said "No... You are thinking about it more than you even should, Erudite"

He then moved in front of Lisa

"You?"

She just stared at him like he was crazy

He loudly chuckled and then turned to me

"What about you?" he asked, moving a little closer

I raised an eyebrow

"Why not." I stated before he could say something else

He seemed surprised for a moment, as if he wasn't waiting for me to accept or even answer him at all

"Definitely not if you're wearing that, princess," he said as they all laughed

I looked down my neck and realized that I was still wearing my mother's necklace

With the Amity tree

He began to move in front of another person, but I quickly took it off and walked to the other edge of the roof

With a smile, I threw it off the roof, watching it fall down, disappearing from my sight

"Happy?" I asked and received a chuckle from him but nothing more

"Now..." I said and walked to the ledge

I jumped on it with a sigh and tightened my ponytail

With a confident smile, I turned around to look at all of them

I bowed, a smirk forming my lips in the moment my eyes fell on that guy, Eric

I did not choose to go to a faction that I would let people put me down, I wouldn't let anybody put me down

My smirk got even wider as I closed my eyes, took a deep breath and let myself fall off the ledge
