"I'm going to take a wild guess and say it's Robert," I said thinking of a name out of the top of my head. The hands uncovered my eyes and spun me around. Cam was standing there was a frown buried in his face,
"Who's Robert?" He couldn't hide the jealously hidden in his voice. I rolled my eyes and kissed him on the cheek,
"I was only teasing, babe. I got your note, and I'd be glad to go. We're actually going this time, right? It's not like last time?"
"I think you over-reacted that one time."
"Over-reacted?! You took me to the circus when you said we were going to that new diner! And a monkey jumped on my back!"
One month ago, Flo's Diner had opened just down the street and I wanted to go so badly. Cam told me he'd brought me there but he discovered a circus was opening for the week and he changed his mind. Five minutes in and a clown-looking monkey jumped on my back. Naturally, I began shrieking and running all over the stands. Let's just say it's an experience I can't forget yet.
"Alright, alright. I promise we'll go, are you happy now?"
"Yes, I am. I'd love to stay and chat but Amy told me I have to meet with some company PR guy and get this story she needs."
"Alright. I'll see you later," he gave a short, sweet kiss and went on his way. Minutes later I was out the building and in a taxi, I absolutely hated them. You just stood there on the curb desperately waiting for a random taxi to pop out. And in Maine you saw them when you didn't need too.
Miraculously, a white taxi pulled up in front of me and I got in, sighing in relief I didn't have to wait long. "Geoff Corporations, please," I told the driver as I took out my phone. The cab took off just as the ringing on the phone started.
"Hello?" I heard Elaine's voice say as a baby screamed in the background. I laughed,
"What's wrong with my little Johnny?"
"He won't go to bed! And Danny isn't here to help! I'm here by myself with a temperamental three-month old," I heard her complain as her voice bounced. She was probably rocking the baby now. Elaine found her one true love junior year in college. The wedding was very beautiful, and I was the maid-of-honor.
"He can't be that bad, he's less than a foot tall."
"Wait until you have your own child; you won't be saying the same. I have to go now Alex, I'll call you when John calms down," she said, hanging up before I had a chance to answer. The cab pulled up next to a skyscraper. Geoff Corp. was in big, capital letters. I paid the driver and got out the car.
"Amy Young scheduled an appointment for me with the representative, my name's Alexandra Bolton," I said smiling at the woman behind the desk. She smiled back, scrolled down her computer and pointed at a seat,
"Please take a seat, he will be with you shortly." she said looking up. I thanked her and walked over to the waiting room. There was no one else with me but in the meanwhile the couch was very comfortable, I could lay here forever.
"Alexandra, the representative will see you now. He's in office 8B," the woman said nodding toward some elevators. I walked toward them and pressed the "B" button. I wonder what he'd look like. Maybe he was a balding old man. Or probably some woman with a long nose who was extremely snobby.
The doors opened and I walked down four steps before seeing the office number. I knocked on the door.
"Come in," I heard a deep voice say.
I took out a pad and pencil and walked in like a professional journalist. My breath was caught in my throat, it wasn't an old balding man. It wasn't even a snobby woman with a voice malfunction. It was Keith, sitting there in an office chair and looking at me with the same expression.
