I wasn't planning on doing this, but due to popular demand, I present to you PVP: The Sequel (I'm so bad at titles I decided to save myself the humiliation and just go with this)
"Alexandra Bolton! Wake up!" I heard a grouchy voice roar, waking me up from my sleep. My head snapped up and I yelled,
"It wasn't me! The goblins did it!" After I said I opened my eyes and looked around. Unfortunately I wasn't in bed and the voice wasn't my mother's...of course it wouldn't be since I moved out ages ago. I rubbed my eyes and stared at my journalist partner, Amy Young. She was one of those people who looked like they never smiled a day in their life.
She looked at with an amused expression, "Goblins? This is new. This is the third time you went to sleep on the job, Alex. You're lucky I don't tell Phil, you'd be fired."
"You see, this is the kind of bond that keeps this love-hate relationship alive." I commented looking down at my papers and started shuffling through my folders when an unknown folded piece of paper fell out.
Curiously, I picked it up and flipped it open. It read, Alex, I got reservations at the restaurant you like, to celebrate one year together.. I'll pick you up at 8? -Cam
I felt myself smile and Amy looked over my shoulder, "Oh yeah, he stopped by when you while you were sleeping."
"I haven't been asleep that long," I protested.
"Yes you have. I didn't need you so I didn't wake you up."
"So you need me now?"
"Yes I do. Rumor is that Geoff Corporation is ripping off millions of consumers with the new market they just opened up, I need you to speak with their rep and get me the details. Deadline is in a week," she told me as she threw a card at me.
I barely heard her, I was still smiling over the card. You'd think I'd be done with this sappy love stuff now but Cam just did that to me, I actually met him in senior year while on a date with Jake. Let's just say going to a silent film festival on every date isn't really exciting, so I snuck away and met Cam at the cotton candy shop. The only reason I really put up with Jake in the first place was to get over Keith--but that's a different story.
When I snapped back to reality, Amy was still talking. "I need you to write down what he says, come back here and I'll type it up. Kay?"
I nodded, "When do I go?"
"Can you go today? I have five other stories to do and I need this one ASAP," she said, walking away from me and typing rapidly on her laptop. I shut off mine and placed it in it's case. Before I left I couldn't help but straighten my desk plaque with a touch of pride: "Alexandra Bolton, Assistant Journalist."
I left the office and was shuffling through my bag when something covered up my eyes. "Guess who?" a familiar bass voice asked into my ear. I couldn't help but smile like a school girl with a crush.
