Waking up Friday morning you would have thought it a perfect day. There were birds chirping, not a cloud in the sky, and a gentle breeze. For me though there might have well been a thunderstorm flooding the town. My mind was swarmed with worries and I had stayed up late packing and repacking all our bags twice. I also had to spend last night making food for the trip and checking the bus' engine. Everything seemed to be fine but that could change when we enter the zone. Tucker and Sam called last night to double check that they got everything and we even had more than I had originally thought to grab. "Danny you awake?" Jazz poked her head in the room and smiled at me. "Hey little sis, how's it going in that head of yours?" "I feel like my thought are trying to bust their way out." "Well take a deep breath and focus on one thing at a time. You have a half hour to get to school and I advise a shower since we won't have any for two days." She left to go make breakfast so I took a quick shower, and went through the tedious task of getting ready. First I got dressed making sure to wear a tight sport bra, a baggy shirt and jeans. Then I pinned my hair up sprayed some hairspray to keep it up better. After that I brushed my teeth and quickly ate some cereal with orange juice for breakfast just in time to get to school on time. (The Box ghost appeared to tell me to tell me thank you and that he and Lunch Lady Ghost were going on a date tonight. I know Ewwww!) "Hey Danny! Everything ready for the trip?" "I hope so Sam. Tonight I am going to add some more weapons to the Spectator Bus. Tucker can you help me enforce it against Technus?" We walked into class as we continued talking we all decided to wear our Fenton Phones at all times as well as keeping wrist rays on. We were just about to talk about making extra maps of the ghost zone when Vita came over with four giant bags in her hands. I mean these were massive and she cared two in each hand like they were nothing. She set them down in the back where everyone else's bags were. "Gezz got enough there. What's in there anyways?" "Lots of food, clothes, water canteens, wipes, and other camping things. Plus this is mine and Zero's things." Zero was walking in with a single backpack to add to the pile and then sat down in her seat taking out her supplies. Vita also sat down to get ready while continuing talking, "Anyways is it alright if we come home with you right away and is any of your family allergic to cats because we couldn't find someone to watch Zim and Dib so we brought them with." She said all this without a pause for breath and I could only nod saying that was okay. Mr. Lancer started class announcing that we had to arrive at my house by 4:30 or we would not be allowed on the field trip. School went by in a blur and I only had to fight Youngblood who went away after I gave him a toy he wanted. (Yes I bought it and just so you know my parent have been paying me for helping with their projects) At lunch Zero and Vita sat with us which was really cool. Vita was telling us all about her clothes for the day and what they symbolized. Turned out her white shirt stood for innocence while the belt she wore over it (It was around her stomach and was black) stood for the holding innocents captive. Her jeans had the logo for a charity that fought child abuse and neglect on it. While Zero just wore a long sleeved white shirt and black jeans. She said it stood for balance. We then talked about the upcoming field trip and about ideas to do incase of an emergency. They had surprisingly good ideas and Val's were also good except for the fact that she suggested shooting as soon as you see a ghost. After that the last classes of the day were quick and as I started to head home I had not only Sam, Tucker, Vita, Zero, and Val but also Mr. Lancer, Micky (one of the nerds), Kwan, Star, Dash, and several other nerds. There were about five more kids who were coming later. All the way there Dash and Kwan threw their football while complaining about going to a losers house. The nerds were all huddling together far away from the jocks but close enough to still follow the group. They were talking excitedly about all the scientific discoveries that they could discover on the trip or something like that. While we were walking I noticed how quiet Phantom was being today. He was like that some days were he just pondered things and wanted to keep his thoughts to himself. The last time he did this was after the whole Dan thing when I finally got him to talk he admitted to feeling guilty because he was the cause of my death. That led to a giant argument about how it wasn't his fault and how he saved me from Dan. Hoping this time turned out differently I made contact. "Phantom? Are you okay you haven't talked to me all day." "Sorry Danny. I am ok but I am worried about the lack of ghost attacks." "I'm worried too but we are well prepared so don't worry so much. We're almost home so I won't be able to talk much." "Okay but we should talk before bed about what to do incase of an emergency. Also I'm sorry I worried you by not talking to you." "It's okay just don't do it again mister." He laughed and I smiled at the mission accomplished. By that time we had arrived at home. I held up a hand telling the kids to wait and opened the door ducking as an ectoblast hit where my head had been. Several kids screamed and nearly drowned out my dad screaming ghosts. "DAD! You nearly hit Danny!" Jazz screamed as she came out to cheek me. I waved her off, "Gezz, Jazz. I'm fine it went over my head." She huffed and motioned for everyone to come in which took a couple of seconds as most of them, except Sam, Tuck, and surprisingly Vita and Zero, were stunned by my dad's outburst. When they all came in my mom smiled at them telling them where they would be sleeping and where to put their things. We were having the girls sleep in Jazz's room, the boys got the living room that was now filled with cots, and Tucker was sleeping with me in my room. "Alright we have to go out on some last minute errands. We should be back in a couple of hours. Danny can you finish the rest of the repairs on the Spector Bus?" Before I could answer she was already talking again, "Great thanks honey!" Que snickers. "Also show your class the lab while you're at it. Uh what are we having for supper?" "Homemade spaghetti and garlic bread." I was cooking so I got to choose and it was a filling meal but also pretty easy to make. "Sounds delicious now bye and listen to the rules about the lab while you're down there. Remember they are there for your safety." With those words they were gone. "Well, Mr Fenton would you care to tell us these rules?" Mr. Lancer asked after the sound of my father gunning the engine faded away. "Sure. The first rule is don't touch anything unless told so. Second no throwing things down there or unsupervised fires. And thirdly have fun." The last rule was filled with sarcasm as we walked down the steps to the lab. "Wow." The class all stared in slight awe at the room. There was random tubes filled with glowing liquid and other random junk. The Specter Bus took up most of the room and behind it was the closed doors of the ghost portal. I walked to the Spector Bus and popped open the hood looking at the damaged. The oil was down and it seemed the brake fluid was leaking out of a crack. "What you doing Fentina? You can't possibly know anything about cars." Before Mr. Lancer could scold him Jazz slapped him and started to scream at him. "How dare you talk to my brother like that! Who the hell do you think you are? This is his home and as a guest you should treat him with respect! And for your information Danny built most of the equipment in this room including the whole Spector Bus! If anyone can fix it it's him now I better not hear you say something like that again. UNDERSTOOD?!" Dash just nodded his head and backed away. In fact lots of people had moved away from Jazz while Mr. Lancer looked openly shocked at her outburst. Little know fact about Jazz if anyone mess with her baby sister she would stop at nothing to make sure they regret it. She was great like that. I turn back to the engine and made the quick repairs closing the lid. "Mr. Fenton is that the ghost portal?" "Yeah it is a portal directly into the ghost zone and can only be opened if you have Fenton DNA. You'll see it open tomorrow but it's time to start making dinner so I suggest going upstairs." Everyone filled up the stairs most going to the living room while Vita who volunteered to help me cooked dinner. Jazz let in the rest of the class and by the time my parents got home we were dishing up food. "Wow this is like really good. I didn't know you could cook like this Fenton." "We'll there is a lot you don't know about him, Paulina." "Sam calmed down we don't need a fight." I whispered really not wanting to deal with this right now. I spent most of dinner talking with Phantom and trying to figure out why Vita wouldn't stop staring at me. I mean it was pretty creepy, her blue eye shined knowingly like she new what I was hiding. It was really unsettling but I dealt with it tell she was distracted by Zim who was trying to climb up people's legs to get their food. She left the room carrying the kittens to go give them food where they wouldn't hurt anyone. After supper it was Jazz's turn to do the dishes and I set up a movie for the kids also explaining the sleeping arrangements. Sam, Tucker, and I went upstairs to start planning out the field trip emergency plans. (Phantom used me to tell them his ideas) Shortly after that Sam went to bed along with Vita, Zero, and Valerie. Tucker set the alarm on his PDA and was out like a light. I followed quickly only to wake up hours later from another horrible dream that I could not really remember.
