The kids were delighted, having had not seen such in the city. Yong il ran around chasing insects while the scaredy Yongdu stayed in his grandma's lap eating juicy watermelon. Yongse would play with Yong il or sometimes carelessly pick some flowers and herbs to their shock but it was not as if the grandma could scold her beloved grandsons.
It was almost three in the afternoon when Jiyong's father arrived. Carrying his buckets full of freshwater fishes, the man ran towards them.
"Uh! That halabeoji!!!" Yongdu stood up and pointed to his grandfather. Dara immediately stood up and met the old man halfway to help him carry his buckets but the old man just patted Dara's arm and told her it's okay. Jiyong then went to grab the bucket from his dad and ran with it to show it to his sons.
"Hey boys, look at this! " Jiyong was just as excited as his sons to see what's inside but Dara quickly scolded them.
"Yah... Yah... Stand up and greet harabeoji properly first. Yong il, Yongdu, Yongse. Come here, " Dara waved her hand at the triplets and the three followed her.
"Bow like this and say hello, " Dara bowed deeply and soon the three were doing it after her.
"Annyeonghateyooo! " the three said much to their grandfather's joy.
"Aigoo. You kids grew up so quickly." The old man bent down and kissed them one by one before urging them to see what's inside the bucket. Jiyong's mom then decided to go back inside the house with Dara to prepare some snacks.
"Appa, what it thit? " Yong il sat beside his dad and peeped into the bucket with so much curiosity.
"Ah that's... Uhm... What is this fish called again?" he turned to his father and asked.
"That's a croaker. And the other one is a trout." Jiyong's dad answered.
"Ah. The trout it fat!" Yong il tried to dip his finger into the bucket but Yongdu stopped him.
"Andwae! Andwae!" Yongdu held his brother's hand. "The fat trout will bite you! "
"It's okay, boys. They don't bite." Kwon grandpa urged the boys to try touching the fishes but Yongdu started to pale and frown.
"Appa! It's going to eat my fingers! I don't want to touch it! Yong il-ah, don't touch it too! " scaredy Youngdu said but Yongse answered before Jiyong could even do so.
"No, Yongdu-ah. It's okay. The twout won't bite you." Yongse explained in a serious manner.
"And what made you say that, Yongse-ah?" Jiyong asked.
"It's because Yong il, Yongdu, Yongte hand are diwty. Eomma taid don't eat when the hand are diwty! Fishes don't eat diwty thing too, right, appa? "
Jiyong and the old man could just laugh at Yongse's reasoning. He has a point though, and it was a relief the youngest takes in his mind what their mom has been telling them.
Yong il smiled, as if thankful for his wise brother's explanation. He dipped his hand into the tub and soon he was playing with his new found friends.
They were all lost in happy land- the triplets playing with the fishes and Jiyong and his dad watching the three, when Dami started calling them to come in.
"Appa! Jiyong-ah! Take the boys in now! Eomma wants to watch The Return Of Superman with you! It's going to start soon! Hurry! "
Jiyong instantly paled as flashbacks of his two-day solo adventure with his sons flashed before his eyes. Definitely, he will be the laughing stock for the day. How was he able to survive those two longest days of his life? He couldn't remember one by one. But his failures started pouring down like a storm before him.
He was somehow brought back to reality when he felt a tap on his cheek. He raised his head and realized it was Dara who was before him.
"W-w-here are they? " Jiyong lookrd around and noticed that his dad and his sons were nowhere to be found. His wife smiled at him.
"They already went inside. Come," Dara hooked her arm with his but Jiyong was still immobile. He let out a sigh and looked down.
"Ji... Is there something wrong?" Dara asked as she cupped her husband's face. "Tell me, "
"Baby... The reason why I don't want you to watch the preview is because I feel so embarrassed about my failures while you were away."
"I'm not going to laugh at you okay? Stop thinking about it. Come," Dara tagged him along but he stopped once more.
"It's not that I'm afraid you'd laugh at me. You know I love making you laugh even it's at my expense. You see... I wasn't able to make Yongdu poop at the first day and he got a bellyache that night. That bruise on Yong il's back? It was my fault! I was cooking in the kitchen and when I went up-"
"Shhh... " Dara smiled at him and brushed his hair with her fingers. "You did your best, Ji. I'm so proud of you."
"H-h-ow... What..." Jiyong was dumbfounded at his wife's words. He scoffed and looked down once more. "You haven't even watched the show,"
"Listen. Hey look at me, baby boy." Dara held his face and made sure he was looking at her. "I don't need any proof of it. Yeah, I'm really curious about the details and I really wanna see how you did but it doesn't matter. On or off cam, I know you are a good father. And that's why you don't have to take this as a big deal. I trust you Ji. That's why I approved sajangnim's decision to put you in the show,"
"Really? " Jiyong asked making Dara roll her eyes before pulling him for a hug.
"Oh Jesus. Why am I raising four lil boys again? " Dara asked as she embraced her husband. Jiyong chuckled and pulled away to kiss her on the top of her head.
"Thank you, baby. You're leaving me speechless." Jiyong hugged her once more.
"So... Shall we? Come on let's watch it! "
Jiyong just shrugged helplessly and wrapped an arm around his wife. They were both nearing the glass door when Jiyong's phone suddenly rang.
"Uhm, go ahead baby. I'll just take this call, " he said and Dara nodded in response.
Jiyong take a double look at the name on his phone's screen and took a deep breath before answering it.
"Hello?"
"Oh, you seem to sound like you're in a good mood! " It was Yang Hyun Suk and Jiyong could just mouth curses as he heard a loud deafening devilish laugh on the other line.
"What now, hyung?" he asked monotonously.
"Oh, you're busy? "
"Sort of."
"Too bad, I just called to remind you your show is airing right now. You look good."
"Hyung, shut up,"
"Aww. Way to ruin the fun. Anyways, let me go down to business." Hyun Suk said with a sudden change of tone. Jiyong rolled his eyes. If it's Yang Hyun Suk, it's gotta be about business.
"Please go straight to the point I'm on a vacation with my family,"
"Family? Yes! That's what I'm talking about! Family! Family is good! "
"Hyung, just spill it, will you! "
"Okay. Fine. I signed a project for you, a CF... An endorsement for a bank...Hmm let me see. Aha! Yes. With your family."
"WHAT??? "
"Family! Family is good! It's great! So you and your wife and three cute lil triplets are scheduled for CF shoot on... This coming Friday. Okay? "
"Wait! Hyung! "
"Enjoy your vacation with your family! Bye~!"
