Chapter Four

I wake up to a light continuous tapping noise on my window. I groan, reaching for my phone and checking the time, which reads 2:36 in the morning. Seriously?

As soon as I sit up to reveal the source of the tapping noise, it stops. After waiting a few seconds of not hearing anything, I collapse back onto my pillow. I begin to doze off when the tapping starts again. Only this time the tapping is louder. I try to drown the noise out, when I suddenly begin thinking about ghost adventures. My eyes immediately open and I throw the covers over my head. Is this the beginning of a haunting? What if it is? Will I be able to call the ghost adventures crew? More importantly, will I meet Zak??

The thought of meeting him excited me and gave me the urge to check outside my window. I throw the warm covers off of my body and sneak over to the window, preparing myself to not see anyone outside.

I snap the window lock and slide my window open, blinking at the person in front of me. Why in the world is Aidan here? And at this time? Why couldn't it be a ghost?

There goes my shot at meeting Zak Bagan.

"Why the hell are you at my house at freaking 2:40 in the morning?" I question him, raising my eyebrow. I then realize that he is on my roof. "And how the heck did you get up here?"

"I couldn't sleep, so I came over here to bug you. And I climbed that tree right there," he replied, acting as if it was no big deal.

"I thought only monkeys climbed trees," I narrow my eyes and lean in, examining his facial features. "Guess I can see the resemblance."

"Ha ha, very funny." He says, rolling his eyes. "So, what's up?"

"Well normal people at this time would be trying to sleep." I sigh, sitting down on the window seat.

"Well you are far from normal, so I guess you weren't doing that."

"Look who's talking monkey boy," I retort. Even in the dark I could see a smirk appearing on his gorgeous face. "So, are you done here?"

"Nah," he says simply. I groan internally.

"Fine, I am. See you," I say beginning to close the window. Aidan quickly grabs the edge preventing me from doing so. "What now?"

"I came over here to tell you something." He says.

"And w-what would that be?" I ask. Aidan begins rubbing his neck as though he is nervous. Weird.

"Well, I...um.. wanted to apologize for earlier. Going through your phone, that picture.. I was careless. So, I'm sorry Ash." He says, sincerity dripping off the edge of each word. My stomach begins to flip faster than a pancake. Aidan Franchez knows how to apologize??

"Umm, i-it's okay, " I stutter, caught completely off guard.

"Also, can I ask you a question?"

"Uh, sure."

"Who was that guy in the picture?" Silence. "Hey. Ash? You okay?"

"I, umm, I..." Don't cry, do not cry. Calm down. Ashlynn, breathe.

"Hey, you don't have to talk-"

He stops mid sentence as a single tear escapes, rolling down the right side of my face. No, No, NO. It all begins to come back to me, the horrible memories of that night flooding through out my head. The fear I felt, the pain, the struggle. My heart begins racing faster and faster, and my whole body stiffens up. I am unable to stop the tears from slipping out now as my knees give out and cause my body to crumble to the floor. Aidan swiftly jumps though the window and into my room, moving to be right by my side. My skin crawls in fear as he moves closer and closer.

"Ashlynn, what's wrong?" His voice full of concern as his hand reaches for my shoulder. I flinch at his action, yet I am frozen in place, unable to move an inch of my body. The same way I was then. He sees my reaction to his touch and backs away immediately, looking around and trying to figure out what to do. My ears begin to ring and my eyes get dizzy. The flashbacks continue to repeat themselves, pulling me deeper and deeper into my head and away from reality. I need to get ahold of myself!

Suddenly, two strong arms wrap around my body and I am once again taken off guard. As soon as his arms are around me, the warmth of his body causes me to snap back into the current situation. My breathing begins to slow and my vision starts returning to normal. How did he manage to calm me down with just one simple gesture?

I lightly push away from him and look up into his green eyes, which are still visible in the dark. Concern covers his face.

"H-hey, I'm sorry."

"There is no reason to apologize. It was my fault. I'm sorry for nagging about.. never mind." He says.

"It's okay."

"No it's not. Ash, I think we should get your mom."

"No." I say quickly. "I'm sorry. What I mean to say is, please don't tell her. She already has enough to deal with. I don't want to be another burden for her to deal with." He laughs nervously.

"I'm sure you are not a burden by any means. But for now, I won't say a word to her." I give him a questioning look.

"Why are you being so nice to me?"

"Well you did almost die just now, so I don't want to risk triggering anything else that might hurt you." I laugh.

"Seriously, Aidan? You are over exaggerating way to much," I say with a sigh.

"How was I supposed to know you weren't dying? It sure seemed like it at the time!"

"Well I hope that if I was dying that you would call an ambulance and not just give me a hug."

"You have a point there blondie."

I grasp the side of my bed and use it to help me stand up before stumbling over to my nightstand and grabbing my phone. The small device illuminates, showing the time: 2:57. I set the phone back on my nightstand and clasp my hands together.

"Alrighty it is way to early in the morning for this, so can you please go home so I can get my beauty rest?" I ask nicely. He gives me a small smile, a hint of sadness in his eyes.

"Hmm, I think I like it over here." I groan.

"Aidan, please. I'm tired."

"Hi tired, I'm Aidan." He's says, trying hard to lighten the mood. I appreciate his attempt.

"Oh my word, you're such a child," I say rolling my eyes. He laughs.

"Fine, I'll go. See you tomorrow blondie." He stands up from his position on the floor and begins climbing through the window and back onto the roof.

"See you tomorrow, monkey boy."

"Oh, and one more thing."

"Yes?"

"Make sure to wear the cute lacy purple bra hanging on your wall tomorrow. That way if I help you wash dishes again-"

"Shut up you perv!" I say slamming my bedroom window and locking it. I can hear him chuckle as he climbs down from my roof. Heat floods through out my cheeks. I take a large breath in and out before run to my bed and collapsing face first. That boy is going to be the death of me.

Hey y'all! I'm so sorry for the long wait! I don't even have a great excuse, except for that I am lazy and I have been pretty busy with work and school. And I kind of  forgot about Wattpad for a while, which sounds TERRIBLE. I'm hoping to write a new chapter every week, but I'll have to figure out how to do that with my work schedule.

Also the chapter might not be the best, but I plan on editing and stuff tomorrow. I just wanted to get it up so you all could read it. I hope I can get a new chapter up tomorrows well, but we will see! I love you all and thank you!
