Chapter 8: Confrontation

"So what's the plan, Speedy?" Damon asked Barry as they all stood in the cortex, waiting for their next move.

Everyone was in the Lab but Iris and Joe, they were still waiting for their arrival.

"So who's gonna explain to Iris and Joe about them?" Caitlin asked referring to Stefan and Damon.

No one in the room wanted to take that challenge but, yet everyone else in the room seemed to look to Barry to volunteer.

Barry groaned quietly "Why me?"

"Sorry Barry but, you're the closest to both of them.. Plus you can dodge Joe's bullets, we can't" Caitlin replied, giving him a look of pity.

Damon glanced at them with a curious expression "Who's Joe?"

"He's Barry's adoptive father, also a cop for CCPD" Cisco explained "Iris is Joe's daughter- And Barry's imaginary girlfriend."

"Alright they get it" Barry groaned more.

Damon smirked "Ooh a cop- Cops are delicious.."

Stefan glared at Damon making him throw his hands up in defence "Kidding! I'm just kidding- College kid taste the best" he added, still smirking.

Caroline slapped his arm "Will you ever behave?"

Damon shrugged as he rolled his eyes. It was going to be impossible to get a snack around here now.

"No one's hurting anyone in my city, if we're going to work together we have to play by the rules.. Especially our rules" Barry interrupted as he stood up.

"As The Flash, this city looks to me for protection, so you can either help or you can leave."

Stefan nodded "Don't worry, I promise we'll keep him in line."

Right as they finished talking, two new people walked in the room, gathering everyone's attention.

Both Stefan and Damon watched them as both Joe and Iris walked in. They seemed surprised to see two new people in their Lab.

"Barry, who are these people?" Joe asked, concerned as he walked in.

Caroline smiled to Iris and held out her hand to shake hers "Hi I'm Caroline, you must be Iris" she said with a cheery voice.

Iris smiled back and shook her hand "Uh hi Caroline" she replied "who's your friends, Barry?"

Barry walked over to both Joe and Iris, hesitating a little before answering.

"Uh they're our new friends- That's Damon and Stefan Salvatore, and Caroline Forbes" Barry explained "They're from Mystic Falls, apparently some Metas have reached their Town-"

"Wait really? Who?" Iris asked, surprised.

"We don't know who they were.. One of them is is probably dead now" Stefan said hesitantly.

Barry's eyes widened a bit "You didn't tell us that.. Who killed them?"

Damon cleared his throat a little, hiding a smile "Well that's not really important now.."

"Right" Barry hesitated but Joe was glaring a bit at Damon, he was getting a bad feeling from him.

"So Damon, what is it that you do in your hometown?"

Damon shrugged a bit, stealing Cisco's drink and taking a sip "Well, I study in human anatomy- Yeah the human body facinates me" he replied, hiding his smirk while he drank some of Cisco's soda.

"Really? Where did you study then?" Joe asked suspiciously.

"Whitmore college" Damon smirked more.

"Never heard of it" "Oh, well its a great school- Known for its cults and all that supernatural junk" Damon added.

"Oh really?" Joe still had a bad feeling about Damon, his detective instincts were on high alert with him.

"Yeah uh Joe.. Damon, Stefan and Caroline.. They're uh-" Barry hesitated, scared of what Joe would say.

"They're what Barry?" Joe asked, his voice growing more concerned and suspicious.

This time Caitlin stepped in, deciding to help Barry explain "Joe I know this is hard to both understand and comprehend but if Metahumans can exist so can other things like- Vampires.."

"I'm sorry, what now?" Joe asked with a confused look on his face "First Metahumans, and now whatever this is?" He asked, pointing to them.

Barry nodded "Joe they're here to help us.. There's other vampires in the city responsible for hurting those people we saw the other day" he explained more.

"They're not going to hurt anyone in our city, they promised to help.."

Joe shook his head "Why do they want to help? If they're the same kind of things that attacked those people why are we letting them even stay in our city?"

Damon wasn't too thrilled with how Joe referred to them. He walked over and put his hand on Joe's shoulder "Listen, we're here to help. But I wouldn't push it if I were you."

Joe glanced at Damon's hand on his shoulder, pushing it off "If I'm not afraid of those metahumans out there, what makes you think I'm going to be afraid of you?"

"Joe.."

"Damon.."

Both Barry and Stefan tried to interject but Damon ignored his brother.

"Well Joe, considering I can easily rip your heart out of your chest, or bite my way through your neck, I'd be nice to the big bad vampire if I were you" Damon smirked.

As he stared at Joe, the dark veins under his eyes started to form as the whites of his eyes turned dark red and his fangs grew out.

Joe's eyes widened a bit but he stood his ground, concealing whatever fear and worry he had, but Damon could see right through him.

Damon smirked through his glare "You know- I can hear your heartbeat, and it sounds like its going very fast.."

"Damon, enough!" Stefan snapped, startling Iris and Caroline a bit.

"Don't 'Damon' me, Stefan" he growled "It's a two sided street.."

Stefan glared and grabbed his arm but Damon pulled away "I don't care, you promised to behave Damon" "Whatever, brother."

Barry sighed as he walked over "Joe we all have to work together here, they're trying to help and we need to give them a chance" he said as he placed a hand on his shoulder this time.

Joe rubbed his temples, glancing at Damon as he tried to calm himself "I don't know Barry, how can you even trust him? Or any of them?"

"I don't know, but what I do know is that there's bad people in our city that needs to be stopped.. They're trying to help and we could use the help" Barry replied.

Joe sighed as well but nodded "alright fine, you're The Flash so you're in charge. But if anything happens, it's on you" "Deal, and I promise, nothing bad's gonna happen" Barry replied with a nod.

Damon rolled his eyes and walked out as Stefan followed his brother.

Everyone else, including Caroline stayed in the lab, not knowing what to say.

Iris decided to break the tension as she walked over to Caroline and Caitlin "do you guys wanna go down to Jitters with me for some coffee?"

Caitlin and Caroline both nodded quickly as Caroline grabbed her purse "Yes please! Anything to escape the awkwardness" she said, mumbling the last part.

Iris smiled back and walked out with them, leaving the lab, leaving the guys by themselves in the cortex.

"So-" Cisco awkwardly scratched his head "this was nice.."

Both Barry and Joe glared at Cisco.

"I'll be in my lab" He quickly grabbed his drink and ran to his personal lab, avoiding any more harsh glares.

This was going to be difficult.
