Dallas hated me

Dallas hated me. I knew as soon as he took one look at me.

My first impression of him was mutual. He looked tired and miserable to be here. His favorite pastime seemed to be glaring.

"You must be pretty stupid to step foot on our territory, white wolf."

I growled at him.

Dallas and I never had a single conversation with each other so I was confused as to how he recognized me. But I realized that it was because of my white coat. Not many wolves had fur as light as mine, just like how very few had fur as dark as my brother's.

It was then that I noticed three other wolves inching their way to where I was. They were all converging where I stood.

"Well, aren't you going to phase?" Troy stared into my eyes. How stupid was I to fall for his lies.

If I phased I would give up my stronger form and the only thing protecting me from becoming roadkill. Besides, if he were planning on putting me in a cell I would rather sit in there in my wolf form. The last thing I wanted to do was talk to him.

Troy's wolves squeezed me from both sides. I showed my teeth and they kept their distance. For now.

"Have it your way. Let's go." Troy commanded and led the group.

Five versus one were not good odds. There wasn't enough time to call the pack either and I didn't want another war so I yielded.

I looked back at my territory one last time. Considering what I assumed they were going to do with me, it was possible that I would never see my pack again.

And so I was "escorted" to the enemy's side.

If I were traveling with no knowledge of packs and boundary lines, I would say their side of the forest looked identical to ours. There were steep hills, bushes of fruit, open meadows and lots of pine trees.

The difference was only magnified when we arrived at their golden castle. The first thing I noticed was how pretty and bright their castle was compared to ours. Ares liked to keep our home dark and cold so no one would trespass though it made our wolves somber. He didn't bother with upkeep either so there was some serious overgrowth everywhere. I hated to say it but their place was more inviting than ours.

Two women were already waiting on the steps for him to get back. One had brown skin and the longest hair I'd ever seen. The other one was older with a curvier figure.

They bowed their heads when he approached.

"Welcome home, Alpha." The older one greeted. She sounded like the Beta but I was guessing here.
