"I'm sorry to hear that." I apologised.
He looked back at me and gave a small nod of forgiveness.
"Why did I not go with him that night? I could've stopped it, and he would still be here..."
Apollo was a very mysterious and confusing character, but after he told me the story I respected him. He went through so much and somehow he could still keep a smile on his face. It was a feature that made him such a strong and great person. I just wished that I was as stable as him.
"So, should we look for more firewood?" he asked, returning back to his happy, former self.
We got up and went back to collecting wood. It was hopeless. There was barely any twigs that could be used for the bonfire and we even had to dig deep in the snow to find any.
I found a small trench and observed the floor, when suddenly something hit me on the neck with great force. It was absolutely cold, and slowly went down my shirt. I turned around and saw Apollo holding a ball of snow in his hand before throwing another one. Luckily, he missed.
"So that's how it's gonna be?" I mumbled to myself.
I scooped a handful of snow and rolled it into a ball. I threw it at Apollo and was hit on the shoulder.
Before we knew it, we had a one on one snowball fight, hiding behind trees and laughing and having a fun for the first time in a while.
I had a snowball in my hand, scanning the trees to see where he was.
"Where the hell are you 'Pollo?" I exclaimed.
I saw something move in between some trees. I walked closer to it, and was prepared to attack. I looked over to the other side of the tree, about to throw it, when suddenly I realised there was more than one person.
I quickly hid behind the tree again and nearly had a panic attack. Right behind the tree were four C.R.A.N.E members.
"Was it just me or did you guys here something?"
"No. I heard it too."
"Could it be an animal?"
"It sounded like a human voice."
My heart was racing, and I tried to control my breathing. They heard us. What if there is more of them? What if our group was in trouble? Aatu, Trevor, Serena, Susan, Joe, Blair, they all didn' t know that C.R.A.N.E was here.
A single bullet flew right above my head, scraping the bark off the tree I was behind.
"Over there!"
I began to run as fast as I could, speeding past all the trees and shrubs. I had no gun, or any weapon. I was outnumbered by them and I kept thinking that there was no way that I would survive.
One of the members shot straight at my calve and I collapsed. My mind went blurry from the excruciating pain and thr members quickly caught up and lifted me up off the ground.
"You were right, it was an animal. A rat to be more specific." One said, making the others laugh.
"Fuck you." I said, spitting at one. I recieved a punch in the stomach in return.
"Okay, rat. Where's your group?"
"Group?...heh...i'm not with...any group." I said, with pain at every word I see.
"Bull. Shit. You wouldn't survive a day without a gun. You gave it to someone, meaning there are others around. We will find each and everyone you, and I will make sure i'll make each of your lives a livin-"
There was a sudden yell from him, I saw Jake holding onto his arm tight like there was no tomorrow. He punched Jake repeatedly, but Jake just bit down even harder, making him yell like crazy.
"No Jake! Go! You'll get killed."
Jake forcefully dragged the member down to the ground, holding him down with his paws and drooling on him.
"Shoot it! Shoot it! Someone shoot the fucking dog already!"
"But sir-"
"I SAID SHOOT IT!"
There was a ear piercing bang followed by a helpless yelp.
Jake lied hopelessly on the ground, covered in cuts and tears. His blood flowed through the snow like veins, spreading further each second.
I fell down to my knees, shaking uncontrollably. My friend, my most loyal pal laid there. He was whining in pain, and I couldn't do anything about it.
"..J...Jake....oh god...."
"Shall we take the dog sir?"
"No, he won't make it. Leave him here."
I tried to crawl closer to Jake before getting picked up by one of members.
"You're coming with us." he simply said.
"How fucking dare you!?"
I was shaking with rage and tears in my eyes, and tried to attack him. Another quickly stopped me and kneeded me.
"If you're not going to cooperate, then we're doing this the hard way." He said, before he punched me in the head.
The world suddenly turned black.
