Thomas's POV
~~~~~~~~~~
I turned round to the heart monitor. The little mountains were slowly getting smaller, and smaller. Then, after a couple minutes, there was a loud beep and the line became flat. We screamed for the nearby doctors but by that time they were already on their way in. We were ordered to stay outside as they tried to revive her. Then after they shut the door, there was silence. We sat in the seats opposite to the door. Kory's head was in his hands and his slouched back jerking up then back down. My nose was running badly and so was the tears, they wouldn't stop. I punched Kory in the face over and over. I, I guess I couldn't help myself to do so.
"WHY DID YOU DO IT," I asked again and again. "WHY, WHY, WHY"
He grabbed my wrist, then my other and threw me to the ground and swung straight into my face. My nose began to bleed from the force and I screamed slightly. Security was already there to break the fight between us. As I was being carried away the blood from my nose swayed slightly high in the air before making a splat on the ground. I kicked my legs in the air as I screamed continuously at him as he sat up and looked at me straight in the eye. His face was bloody, the sources were his mouth and nose and a burst lip. That was the last I had saw of him that day as he was taken by security. We were taken into separate rooms to be cleaned up and calmed down, finally being forced to tell what happened. I could hardly say anything because of my sobbing and hiccuping. In the end though, I did get it out. They looked shocked as I told them and they called the police and told me everything's going to be okay
The police arrived and we were taken for lie detectors. I passed, I knew I would but somehow, Kory passed. Surprising actually. We were dropped off outside our house via police car. For me, it was amazing sitting in one. I've always dreamt of sitting in one let alone becoming an officer. They drove off whilst they waved. I stood there, watching it fade into the darkness of the night.
This night was a clear, cold one. No clouds in the sky and everything was peaceful. The only sound that was being made was the sound of leaves falling off the trees and floated away swiftly in the cold breeze. Looking up I saw the stars, the constellations. The Big Dipper, that was the most easiest to see. Then the seven sisters: a small cluster of stars, seven of them in total. My stargazing was cut short from Kory yelling at me to come in. "You'll catch a cold!" He shouts. I turn and glare at him. A long, hateful glare. Then I opened the red gate to the back garden and walked in. Why would I want to take orders from someone like that. It disgusts me.
Suddenly, my world became dark. I felt like my eyes were spinning in and out of my skull. My head was pounding and I felt like I could vomit. I looked up one last time at the stars before falling to the ground with a thump.
Tommo's dream
_______
I sat on the chair beside Ember's hospital bed. She smiled and she asked how I was doing in school. I replied, saying I was doing well and that I passed a higher Maths test. She laughed and said "How did you do that without my help?". She said it kindheartedly. I laughed along with her, I knew she was kidding. There was a cold air coming from her dirty window to the right of her. The curtains got caught in the wind and swayed in time with the gusts of wind that flooded through. I pushed myself forward and shuffled over to the wide open window, having to reach out to grab the handle which resulted in me having to go on my tip toe to actually reach far enough. I sighed as I closed it, I'm scared of heights and thinking of me accidentally falling out didn't make that any better. I laughed it off and got back on topic to what we were saying earlier.
"So I met this girl and-" I stopped as I turned round.
Kory, he was there. He held the plug that pumped oxygen to her lungs. I couldn't move, it was shock. Then I pounced at him and trying to pull the plug from him. It was no use. He pushed me into some medical tools that were left and my back had been cut from the tools that lay on the now fallen metal tray. I turned to look at the damage I had done. It wasn't much but there was some blood on the walls.
