Penelope P.O.V
Standing in the middle of an office, surrounded by paintings of former bosses, agents and superheroes is as intimidating as it gets. I've got to admit though, despite the odd feeling that the paintings were watching me and the man sitting in front of me behind a big wooden desk, the place was kind of cosy. The wooden floors held the stage for a soft red carpet which led from the door to the boss's desk. The surrounding wooden walls weren't only covered by those creepy paintings but also held trophies, medals, and other prestigious awards.

The man in front of me was what really looked interesting though.

The boss. A man or women who has served the organisation with pride and loyalty. Every five years agents and superheroes from all over the organisation nominate themselves to audition for the Boss. The auditions last for half a year. Each nominee has an agent following their every move and testing them to see if they're fit for such a job.

Mr Lawson definitely deserved it this time. He's been one of the best Bosses since Henry Roberts, who was the founder of S.P.E.C.I.A.L, and my grandfather. Mr Lawson is an amazing man. Unlike previous Bosses he will go around the organisation and see how everyone is, and will always make sure every agent and superhero is in the correct state of mind to work. His motto is:

If your mind's not at its best, it's time to take a rest.

He frowned at me. With dark brown hair gelled down and small wrinkles, he certainly had an authoritative look to him.

"Penelope Roberts, I see you've decided to arrive a little late today." His confident but smooth voice matched his personality. Despite his kindness outside missions as soon as one pops up Lawson would become an organised, composed S.P.E.C.I.A.L agent.

I slowly nodded. "Sorry about that sir."

He smiled, with his mood completely changed.

"But that's not why I called you here. Penelope, you've been doing at excellent job as one of our agents and you've made an even better superhero."

Superhero. The word definitely wasn't foreign to me. My powers were flight, super speed and super strength, making me a generally strong hero.

"I need someone like you to help me with my latest project. Over the past couple of years, S.P.E.C.I.A.L has gotten quite a few new heroes and we have many young ex-villains who we can take advantage of. I have chosen 5 teenagers."

I nodded as he grabbed a remote, pressed a button and motioned towards a screen.

"This first girl is ex-villain Terror."

Terror was a girl with pink and purple wavy hair flowing to her hips. Her black spandex suit covered her entire body and had no patterns on it except for a silver band which stretched around her waist.

"Terror is a telepath who can not only read minds, but control things, and people, with her mind."

Hmmm. A telepath eh? That would definitely come in handy.

The Boss switched to the next slide. This slide had a short brown haired boy with a tight green singlet and grey tights. His eyes were a piercing green.

"This kid is Elemental, he can control water, fire, earth and air. Elemental is a new hero who needs lots of training."

I nodded my head and motioned for him to swap to the next slide. On this slide was a young asian girl. This one had a slim figure and long black hair which went down to her waist.

"Here we have Night Shadow, she is an extremely well trained agent who can do anything with a bow and arrow. "

An archer? Perfect. Archers are definitely good for a team.

"Next we have Lightning, our second villain." I follower the Boss's gaze to see a blond haired boy, wearing a red, orange and yellow spandex costume.

"Lightning can fly and can control energy."

So far so good. Lightning could fly AND control energy. We're going to have a pretty strong team.

"Last but not least, Laser. Laser has the powers of flight, laser vision, and strength almost like Superman."

"Sir," I interrupted him, while tightening my ponytail. "This team seems brilliant and all, but how can I manage a bunch of newbies, and ex-villains?"

"Penelope, we chose you for a reason, and a pretty damn good one. You're one of our best heroes! Now hurry up and go meet your team in the next room. They're waiting for you."

I nodded and left the room. Let's just hope for the best that this is going to be good.
